Here are some screenshots of player performances yesterday.PFF Stats of Saints, Game #5
I'll list them by their rank order under various conditions (e.g., best to worst defensive player for pass rush).

DEFENSE

PFF Team Analysis of Standout Performances:
--Cameron Jordan didn’t get any sacks in this game, but notched a pair of hits on Cutler and three more hurries. Such is his confidence level within the new scheme that he actually made some of this happen from the 4-3 DE spot that he found so troublesome before. Jordan’s pressure, and that of Junior Galette (+1.6 pass rush), is critical for the Saints who aren’t generating much else up front and have been relying on bringing blitzers from the secondary to make up the shortfall.
--Any time a receiver tops ‘two-bills’ you know there’s a corner somewhere on the opposing side that’s popping up with a bad grade and some ugly stats. In this game that player was Jabari Greer, but his troubles weren’t contained to Jeffery. He did give up 87 yards on four catches (and targets) to Jeffery, but he also allowed a catch to four other receivers and, all told, surrendered 128 yards and a touchdown from nine targets. Greer isn’t the most physical corner in the world and he was completely out muscled at times by both Jeffery and Marshall.
--With Rob Gronkowski still struggling back from injury the crown as the league’s best TE is firmly resting on the head of Jimmy Graham. OK, so he still can’t block, but the Saints know this and don’t ask him to do much of it, instead taking advantage of the matchup nightmare he poses teams. Graham was targeted 10 times in the game and caught all 10, for 135 yards. He beat six different Bears defenders in coverage for those receptions as they cycled through their defense to try and find anybody that could match up with him. None could, and when Brees was looking for a key pick-up to keep the offense on the field he tended to go straight to Graham. You can’t blame him — throwing Graham’s way gave him a 118.8 passer rating on the day.
--Drew Brees went after the Bears’ linebackers, targeting each five or more times while Charles Tillman and Tim Jennings saw just six targets combined.
--Pierre Thomas is one of the league’s best backs on screen passes. He ended this game catching all 9 of his targets in the pass game for 55 yards (75 after the catch) and two TDs.
--The Saints’ defense missed four tackles. The Bears D missed eight. This is not how it is supposed to go.

It's 2013...that is how it now goes weekly.

How does Vaccaro keep grading negative? What is he doing wrong?

I was very surprised with how bad Greer has looked this season compared to his usual self...is this the beginning of his actual decline?

Key stat:
The Saints’ defense missed four tackles. The Bears D missed eight. This is not how it is supposed to go
I was really surprised they were going after Greer, as he is generally considered our best cover corner.

I'm looking at the stats for the whole season.
Our best coverage CB is Lewis right now.
Greer is our worst coverage player.
Y'all won't believe who the best coverage player is as of now.

Harper or Jenkins...Ill got with Jenkins

Yep, Jenkins.
I'm not sure who has benefited more from Ryan's scheme.
Jenkins, Jordan, or Galette.

Vaccaro has helped Jenkins game out significantly. Jenkins is now able to play a more comfortable role.

Well for one, he let Jeffrey get behind him for a long catch late in the 4th quarter while protecting a 16 point lead. Jeffrey had a monster game overall, too...but that should never have happened.
KV makes rookie mistakes, usually due to over-aggressiveness. But I guess we'll keep him anyway.

That may be true.
I think Vaccaro might need a year in the system before he starts grading out positively on a regular basis.
He's one of those players who does everything right except for the things that statistics cover.
Very strange.

Wait....what?
I completely disagree with that statement. We saw some safety blitzes against the Bears, but I think that was more taking advantage of a weakness than out of necessity.

I didn't get that either. And I almost cut that out.
I think Jenkins had a less than stellar game and Hicks is still not showing up on the stats.
But it's a really strange claim to make.

Very workman like PT.
And four missed tackles is what we used to get in one quarter.

and yet PT received a negative "pass" grade. This shite still makes no sense

I'm emailing them about it.

Yeah every time I see the game he's making a play that won't show up in the stat books, such as I remember on a drive where he forced a FG in the 2nd half he dominated Marshall near the LOS and took him out of the play in the red zone.

Yeah I disagree too. I felt like this was maybe the first game I saw that many blitzes. Its usually the front four causing havoc.
