When we left Mcnulty, his career as a detective, at least in an official capacity was over. He had his "wake", thus ending his career with BPD. So, what's next for him?

He's relatively young, late 30s, a great detective, and has the drive to be truly great. On the flip side, he's a drunk, irresponsible, immature, and has deep resentment for authority(I actually don't find this to be a negative, but figured I'd be in the minority). So, what's next?

- Private investigator? Probably too boring.

- Goes the Mark Furhman route and writes a book(s) and travels the USA solving cold cases?

- Become a consultant to police departments throughout the USA, helping them solve their cold cases?

- Bangs skanky waitresses, racking up several STDs, and then drinks himself to death?

What do you think?

I think it would be a combination of working for some kind of high security firm doing servaliance and contract cases and

He just moves to another city and joins their PD with no mention of his misadventures.
