I really enjoyed watching that segment last night on Countdown.
I still think to this day that he's one of the best running backs to ever play the game. I wish things could have gone better for him in New Orleans, but I've always rooted for him and wished he could find peace.
I was extremely happy when Ditka made the move to bring him in, because it was a move to bring in a potential franchise changing player that the Saints always seemed to just miss out on in the Draft.
Obviously, it didn't work out, but I for one was happy to see Ditka's vision of the trying to bring the next Walter Payton to the Saints. And as a guy that always wished Earl Campbell could have made it to New Orleans earlier in his career, it was cool to see what I thought could have been the second coming of that great Longhorn Heisman winner coming to New Orleans right out of college.
The 30 for 30 on him was one of my favorites, so seeing him look so healthy and happy and energized coaching young players really feels like he's finally found himself. Not just at peace like he claimed he was in the 30 for 30, but genuinely happy and loving life.
Run Ricky Run!!!!
