I loved that team. Especially the defense.... Hill, Sancho, Phillips, Dunbar, Ausberry.... what a team.

I was in law school and seated around the 20 yard line for the earthquake game. But I was drunk beyond all recognition and can barely remember the end of the game, much less how it played out. My date left me at halftime. That I'm pretty sure of.

I heard Ruffin Rodrigue mention on AFR that Mike Archer would be here.

I was in the South End Zone with family. Quite an experience. The play that happened a little earlier (where Fuller caught the ball w/1 foot out of bounds) was wild- EVERYBODY thought he'd scored.

Just hated the way they ended the year. That loss to Syracuse was . Also they shouldn't have lost to Ohio State that year. We had them on the road and a few crazy plays let them slip by us. We were the better team but had a hard time finishing, the Auburn game notwithstanding.

Good!!

He's retired now right? And he should certainly be there. Whatever happened at the end, the 87 & 88 seasons were special

A 10 win season in 87 (first in forever) and a SEC championship

Yes. I wonder if he and Jeffrey are going to eat at Picadilly while they are in town?

(nobody under age 30/not from BR will get that reference)

I was sitting in the Southeast endzone, up near the top row. I remember during the 4th quarter people kept leaving, and some drunk (but sensible) LSU fan kept yelling at them, "Where are you going Tiger fans? The games not over?" With the drive heading into the North endzone, I really couldn't see much. But what I have always remembered about that game, is that when the ball was thrown, I couldn't see the result. What I did see was the ENTIRE North endzone jump in unison. I swear the entire crowd in that endzone was synchronized for one big leap.

I learned at that game that when the ball is far away from me, and I can't really see, just watch the crowd for their reactions.

I sat on about the 5th row of the student section, right in the corner. My friends and I had the bright idea that we might get on TV. Those seats are so crappy that low that I think the ONLY play I saw clearly that whole night was the TD catch.

For you young whippersnappers, there was no jumbo-tron back in those days....

One of my favorite memories. I saw an Auburn fan smash his binoculars on the concrete stands! Glorious, Absolutely Glorious!

You know, I had forgotten he left NC State at the end of last season in the midst of their coaching changes....As far as I can tell, he isn't with anyone, currently.

I always felt like he should have gotten another season at LSU...Looking back at the Hallman years that followed- he should've, too.

I was in the student section NW corner about 25 rows up, just under the (old location for) the Band. We used to sit just below the golden girls .

So, my view was dead in line with the back line of the end zone.

Glorious moment.

um, NO. Archer could coach up someone else's talent, but had no clue on how to be a HC -- he was the worst recruiter in LSU history.

Nothing he ever did came close to the Hallman years. IMHO, of course.

Now having said that- let us not forget that Steve Spurrier wanted the LSU job when Mike A. was in the running.

LSU turned him down.

I've always wondered over a beer or three what the 90s SEC might have looked like had Spurrier been hired at LSU....
