Texas Tech (ATT Jones Stadium) or Ok State (T Boone Stadium)

Or whatever the name is, has anyone seen a game there? I was thinking of going in early November (they play Ok State the first weekend). I'd like to know places to eat, drink, see on gameday, etc. Yes, I know its in Lubbock and the middle of nowhere, please save the negative comments, I would like positive suggestions.
ETA: What about OK State and not Lubbock?

Say a gun was being held to my head.
Now, suggest where I eat/drink.

In that scenario I'd let the gunman choose. Don't want to piss anyone off.

Eat a steak, they should be plenty fresh there. The entire city smells like cow shite.
Drink where ever you are and do so in excess. It will make your stay in that armpit of a city better.

Rough crowd, it can't be all bad.

Spent my freshman year there years ago. Go to Chimys for Tex-Mex food and margaritas. Spankeys has some good fried food if you want the whole, burger, cheese sticks, fried pickles type of garbage food. Stadium is mediocre and campus is just so-so. I left Lubbock for a reason. Tailgating is laughable compared to SEC standards.

I had heard they were like the LSU of the Big 12 on the classiness scale. But that's a shame if they don't even make up for it with good tailgating.

What if I then said, advice for visiting Ok State instead?

Norman is better than Stillwater but both are much better than TTU.

Go and have a good time. There is something fun everywhere. Some people just can't find it.
It's funny that a gump would say "save your money." Tuscaloosa is one step above Meridian MS.

Sounds like a bunch of misinformed people in this thread. Yes, Lubbock sucks. But the campus is great. The stadium is currently in the process of being upgraded. It is a fun atmosphere at the game.
As for places to eat, if you want Mexican, Jalisco Taqueria has damn good food along with Abuelo's. 50 Yard Line has a decent steak. Broadway (the road) has a ton of bars that are usually packed on gamedays and is less than a 5 minute walk to the stadium. The tailgating is lacking somewhat, but there is still a huge crowd that shows up.
Hope that helps.

This is what I am thinking, I just want to make it to some Big 12 schools for football. I have been to nearby SEC schools when I lived in BR, now I want to make it to schools around Texas/Oklahoma. I am no saying it will be in the same stratosphere as the SEC, but I think I can enjoy myself.

Pretty much agree on Tech. I went to a game there and after I told myself I'd never go back. Ten years later I guess I decided to give it another go. No interest in going back and I say that as someone that genuinely likes West Texas. There are good eats though.
The town itself is pretty nice. Eskimo Joes is insanely overrated but I do like Stillwater. The gameday atmosphere there sucks though.
Btw, if you want to go to an off the beaten path Big 12 game I'd recommend Manhattan, Kansas (K-State for those that aren't sure who resides there).

Do they just put action on the Tech games or what?
ETA Just noticed he added OK State to the thread title. Now I can interpret that a little better

I've been to both. I much prefer Stillwater to Lubbock.
The Tech students tend to be huge pricks and it rains mud there.
The students are much nicer at Okie Light and Stillwater is about an hour from OKC if you want to do more than the college town thing.
