I have a external HD that I want my PS3 to read. Its full of movies. But nothing happens when I plug it in. Any idea how to get this to sync?
specs: WD My Passport 1TB Portable External Hard Drive Storage USB 3.0

Should read it just fine unless it isn't FAT32. I think that's the format it reads.

it is prob ntfs. copy all your files to hd and then format the drive. ive been on linux too long to remember howto format on win but google how to format hd and it should help. then just choose fat32. ntfs is propietary file system you should avoid it if you plan to use the drives on other os.

You have to go to video where your external HD should show up.Press triangle and it pulls up other options one of them should play it.

Because of the size of the drive, you cannot (unless they changed it in Windows 7) right-click and format as FAT32. The link below provides info and programs (free) that allow you to format drives over 32GB as FAT32.

Then:

I have the same drive, it is formatted as NTFS from the factory. Copy your data off and reformat it like one of these other guys suggested.

I don't know how much you have stored but you're just wasting time reformatting a 1TB hd to where only 32gb is useful. I would just buy a 32gb flash drive.

I think you can just make multiple partitions to counter that.
