In speaking with several Nebraska fans over the Thanksgiving weekend, I was struck by the fact that none of them could think of an incident involving Ndamukong Suh playing dirty while he was a Nebraska Cornhusker.

His team is wildly undisciplined on top of him being a fiery personality. I don't believe he coaches dirty tactics but through his public silence I think he condones it.

He tried to fight Harbaugh a few years ago after a game.

Schwartz had plenty to say about what happened.

"I think the biggest thing with this was, if that's a wide receiver, I understand the effort," Schwartz said Monday during a news conference at the team's practice facility. "If that's Adrian Peterson trying to go catch him, has a chance to catch him, one of the wideouts ...

Schwartz defending Suh
quote:

"I don't think it was an attempt to injure or anything like that. It wasn't 40 yards behind the play. It wasn't hitting a guy from behind, or some of the other things we've seen from other players recently, going low and hitting guys from behind."

More condoning

It isn't reasonable to expect a coach to publicly rip a player during a press conference.

Not asking to publicly rip him but something to the effect of "while I love his fire for the game ,we as a team need him to be smarter than that. That type of play isn't what I coach and its not what I want to see out of my guys"

Is that ripping?
My contention is that he is partly to blame for the character of his football team on the field.

So, some canned response to the media makes a difference? That stuff is irrelevant.

You have no idea what happened behind closed doors in this situation, but I do know it was enough for Suh to apologize to the team for the play in question.

It goes a lot further than you think.
You believe he gave such a passionate plea to Suh that he apologized?
I doubt after what his history had shown that anything related to disciplinary speeches are genuine.

After his public comments ,which is all anyone can comment on, he doesn't even think Suh did anything wrong. Why would he be any different behind closed doors ?

Harbaugh is a supreme doucher. Schwartz out douched him therefore I believe Schwartz would possibly condone if not preach such tactics.

And if I was superman, I could fricking fly.

It wasn't Peterson, it was a fat slow lineman 20 yards behind the play .

And he sure as shite was not aiming for the waist. Schwartz is a bigger idiot than I think he is if he believed that load of horse shite. It was an intentional dirty play aimed at hurting that player and the coach says it would have been ok on the best RB in the game or a WR?....da fuq?

Not only is Schwarz an insecure toolbag, but he's a flat out awful coach.

I don't know, I wasn't in that conversation. However, actions that are condoned by the team wouldn't necessarily require an apology like that. You simply go about your business. If the expectation is that you don't engage in those types of plays, and you do just that, then you feel an obligation to your teammates and coaching staff to apologize. That is far more likely than "nice peel-back Suh lulz".

he doesn't even think Suh did anything wrong.

Again, I'm not going to read too much into a coach publicly downplaying an on-field incident. Coaching 101 says back your players in public and take care of it in private. He commented on the fact it was a stupid play and resulted in a 14 point swing...which is the real problem here.
