I've been the to the Hooters on the Westbank. It had, by far the hottest girls at a Hooters in this area.
The Twin Peaks on the Westbank will probably be the MOST WESTBANK place ever. Hot girls that are ridiculously trashy, guys in shrimp boots, hard hats, or wife beaters. Also lots of Affliction.

I live and work in Gretna. Eastbankers just like to look down on us westbankers. Neither side has a monopoly on trashy people. I see trashy people all the times on both sides of the river. I even have people that live in New Orleans (mid-city,downtown,uptown,etc.) that try to tell me how dangerous the westbank is.

I still see shrimp boots in bucktown. They still shrimp and crab in the lake. By the way, St. Bernard is still considered the east bank and lots of shrimping going on over there.
Regardless, nothing wrong with a pair of shrimp boots. Every man in south LA should have a pair.

You know what I love about the New Orleans metro area....how everyone loves it, but everywhere except where they live or are from sucks.
Metairie hates Kenner, Lakeview hates Uptown, Mid City hates Gentilly, everyone hates the west bank, NOLA westbank hates Jeff westbank, Kenner hates River Ridge, River Ridge hates Harahan, Harahan hates everywhere but harahan, nobody cares about Belle Chasse except for people in Belle Chasse, BUT agreed upon by all is if you move from any of those places to the Northshore you're a sell out

I think we can all agree (or should at least) that Marrero is the worst place in the entire New Orleans area.

My dad and grandparents are from the Wank. I grew up going there every Sunday. I work in Gretna.
The Westbank is unique and it is entirely accurate what everyone says about the Westbank. Just accept it and love it.

FWIW, i grew up on the westbank in gretna. my parents still live there. you can try and talk positive about it all you want but the place sucks. too many trashy black and white people and the place shows no room for improvement. my parents have been there for 30+ years and they can tell you how the place has gone to shite. only thing that has kept them from going across the lake,uptown, or lakeview is family and business. no one i know that grew up there and is still there talks highly of it. sorry

Seriously..other than a handful of ethnic restaurants and old Algiers, the Westbank offers nothing interesting. No music venues or bars worth a shite, no museums, no attractive architecture, parks- zilch in the way of culture or entertainment. Thats why the eastbank looks down on you buddy.

YA, yea they have one of those vans about a block from my parents house. they have to make a killing off of that thing if it works correctly. does anyone mess with it or try to damage it?

There are a few descent places to eat on the westbank outside of ethnic.

Outside of New Orleans, there isn't much of this in Metairie,Kenner, Harahan,etc. We have Gretna fest and that's about it. Parks we have Jean Lafitte.
For me it's just a place to live. I live in Old Gretna and am 10 minutes from uptown or downtown and much closer to the action than Metairie and most of the eastbank.
