LSU was out-gained on the ground, and still won the game?

Net Rushing
UAB = 160 yds
LSU = 152 yds

Oh, and I don't have the answer. But, I bet that hasn't happened very many times.

If Hill had gotten significant touches, our rushing total would have gone over 200. The run game will be fine once he's in the rotation full time.

I'm not worried about the run game. I was speaking more to the fact that we now seemingly have a passing game we can rely on.

The team avg. 4.5 per carry, and Hill avg. 8.3 per touch.

I just think it's awesome that the backs may not have to carry it as many times, and they might have fresh legs later in the year.

That's distorted by 1 play - OBJ returned a FG for TD. That took away a clock killing drive that would have been run heavy.

Here's another question - when was the last time LSU's passing yardage effectively doubled the rushing yardage (293-152)? On relatively balanced playcalling 20 passes/34 runs, but would have been closer to 45/55 during the competitive period of the game.

When you pass as well as we did, and get 5 TDs through the air, the running yardage suffers. Now, we lost the TOP battle, and not insignificantly, 33:30 to 26:30. That doesn't really matter in the long run because we played lots of young kids and got out without any significant injuries.

Also, another stat to look at: Hilliard, Hill and Brazil all averaged 5 ypc (Hill actually 8.3), and combined for 19/114. The rushing stars of last week were less effective, but even Mett's 3 scrambles averaged 5.7 ypc. The WR combo reminds me of Swann and Stallworth on the 1970s era Pittsburgh Steelers, with OBJ as John Stallworth and Landry as Lynn Swann.

*sigh* - I'm old.
