Going Silent (Men's Basketball)

While having a recent conversation with a friend of mine who plays college basketball, we got on the subject of comebacks and why it seems that away teams that would normally be blown out after suffering a two-digit deficit can overcome seemingly insurmountable odds.
His response: "You're in the zone, man."
I asked him what he meant and he said that when you're losing, a lot of the time what really kills you is your own thoughts. When the crowd is really loud, you can't hear yourself think, so you just get in the zone. What I gathered from his elaboration was that when you can't think, you don't try to overcompensate, you don't think about the score, you don't think about anything other than the gameplan.
I asked him, "well, what if the crowd was completely silent?"
He laughed and said "that would be messed up, yo."
So, I'm wondering: do you think that the PMAC could pull off being completely silent when the visiting team has the ball near the end of the 2nd half? You could imagine the eruption of cheers when a shot was missed and just the sqeaking of the shoes.
It would make for a unique experience and no one would expect it.
Anyway, just my thoughts.

I played basketball in college, too.
Basketball is a game of runs.
Teams build leads by going on little runs.
Sometimes, you can get on a big run. Your team will do something good, like hit some 3's, and it gets you pumped up and you try even harder.
You start gaining confidence, you start feeling it, and before you know it you have come back from a big deficit.
The cheers help when playing at home... but I love the sound of silence when playing on the road. Because that means we've shut everybody up.

Two digit deficits are common. For some reason people that don't watch a lot of ball think a 15 poi t lead is blowin someone out and can't understand how it's tied 10 min later

Definitely. Did you go to any of the games during the Trent Johnson era?
