Home drying fruits, using an oven

Does anyone do this?
I'm attempting to dry out my first fruit using an oven and I'm not sure what to expect.
Any tips?
Basically I cut out the pit/stem of the pear and peeled the skin off. Then I sliced it thinly into strips and placed them on a cookie sheet. I have my oven set to 170 (lowest it goes) and I have the door open a crack to let out steam.
Anything I should expect?

Yeah that doesn't exactly answer any questions and that is actually where I got the idea from
