2 part question:
If we all agree Saban is the best with 4 NCs in 10 yrs, what would be considered second best in your opinion?

Do you feel LSU is heading in the right direction?

Great, now we are explicitly competing to be second best? Super.

So I would assume based on your immediate bash on Miles that you are sold on the fact that Nick Saban is the best coach in college football. (Which I could agree with) So please explain to me what you want LSU to do? Sign Saban away from Bama? Get a coach who has run the clock perfectly but not won over 80% of his game as a coach in the SEC?

Edit: Pissed at myself because I bit on your dumbass troll. Also didn't realize you were the OP so my first statement is obvious.

Les is a missed Okie Lite FG from being considered as good, if not better than Saban. They are damn near even head-to-head and LSU gave Bama all they wanted even when we were sucking in 2008-9.

What other coach, besides Saban, would you rather have?

I never get the second best crap from the fans. You dick ride and say saban is the best, which he is. Then you guys say we settle for second best. Well the only way to not do that, is to lure saban away from bama. And if you think that will happen, you are delusional.

I seriously think fans still think hes coming back. HE dumped us, get over it. We have the best coach we can have that can compete and beat Nick Saban.

A lot of people would like Patterson. But he aint going anywhere regardless. And i still think he made his name beating up on the likes of wyoming. I mean no one in the wac is remotely as talented as tcu. TCU could just take a bunch of walkons from the dallas area and still be more talented than any team in the mac.

Who in their right mind would even think that let alone actually type that?

This is, of course, totally false. Arguments of this sort entirely disregard the way that genius and excellence actually develop. There was an era when Saban wasn't regarded as an invincible juggernaut. He was simply a promising young Big Ten coach with a middling record. Naturally, even then he had the talent and characteristics required to become an elite coach, but they had not fully manifested because Saban was still evolving and wasn't yet in a setting where he could showcase his skillset.

Similarly, I have no doubt that somewhere in America today there is a promising young coach who will become a dominant force in time, given the right opportunity. Identifying that coach wouldn't be an easy task, but it certainly is feasible for someone in the industry with access to inside information, search firms, and other relevant resources. The only question is whether one was willing to take that risk.

Fifteen years ago Saban wasn't considered the best coach in America, now he is, and five or ten or fifteen years from now, someone else will have earned that august title.

Saban is not invincible. It's ridiculous to suggest that LSU (or any other SEC school, for the matter) MUST be relegated to second best while Saban is at Bama.
