It's more of a positional battle display than game tonight. I think there are more spots up for grabs than any year since '06. Prolly 8-10 spots with about 20 names still in the running.

Can Sweeting or Chris Carr push Corey White for a spot?

IAQ vs Jim Leonhard duking it out

Ther Eric Olsen-Andrew Tiller-Tim Lelito-Eliot Mealer throwdown

Dunno, but is Austin Johnson a possible threat to replace Jed? He has performed well.

Tom Johnson looks endangered. I'm a Tyrunn fan

Cadet vs. Robinson- Who hasn't liked the way KR has hit it? Not being PS eligible looks like Cadet's biggest edge

Bryce Harris-Marcel Jones shootout

With the OLB plague in force do Rufus or Baraka make the 53? Both maybe?

Out of team neediness Jay Richardson seems more likely to make it to me. What say ye?

Preston Parker and Glenn Foster have already played themselves onto the 53 IMO.

Parker might spell the end of Roby's long run keeping a roster spot as a gunner only.

What other competions are ya watching?

Add Marcel Jones to this one

He moved to guard. Harris has backup RT on lock. I think Olsen is the backup C. He sucked it up at guard against Houston.

I think he is in. The last OLB spot will be out of Rufus or Baraka, IMO.

agree that Harris is surefire. I'll go so far as to say he might be the starter before the season is done.

Olsen the edge fo sho, ya never know about how they're grading these guys tho. Plenty of good competion tho. Like Eric Martin, we'll likely see some of these guys playing more for other teams than here.

Agree with this. I am not sure Roby makes it this year.

Which hand will lift the most beers and which will drop the most!

Lelito and Johnson surprise 53'ers.

Hell no. White is my boy.

I thought IAQ had disappeared, but he's played pretty well so far in his 40 snaps.
Leonhard has played almost the same number of snaps and hasn't produced as much.

Doubtful.

Yeah, Cadet to roster; Robinson to PS.

I can definitely see this happening.
Johnson's had a rough transition, while Walker is playing better with more snaps.

I'm fairly certain Rufus makes it.
Maybe even Baraka.
Richardson has not played well.
But I don't know, this team loves their veterans.

Nothing stops the Harris train.
He's even our best run blocking Tackle, on a team that could definitely use it.

I doubt it.
I think we need ST help more than receiving help.

true dat, time for another NFLer from the banks of the Teche. I had a friend that as a kid had his bicycle stolen by Johnny Hector. I went hunting many times with oldtimer Howie Ferguson.

What's the mascot for Westgate? Dating myself- is that the old Freshman High or Jonas Henderson High?

If I'm not mistaken, I believe it was both. Was a long time ago

Parker seems to have some good instincts as a returner. Anyone notice him doing any gunning in kick coverage?

I know PFF has an unusual system (and probably even more unusual for ST), but Parker is really performing at returner.
He's ranked 8th for overall returns (+2.1) with a strength in kick returns.
Cadet is 23rd (+1.2) with a strength in punt returns.

Interesting.

Apparently, our best regular STer is someone named Josh Hill (oh, the TE).
Everyone else is doing pretty average, but I noticed that Cadet and Higgins are having particularly rough times.

Do you have a PFF subscription? If so, is it worth it? I've been thinking about signing up.

Yeah, it was given to me by a friend for my birthday, I think.

It's really great, I use it all the time.
But I'm a stat nerd.

I think it's worth it, but it is a bit expensive at almost 30 bucks for a year.
Still, like I said, I use it all the time.
