Underrated movies - The Apostle with Robert Duval

It got good reviews. But you seldom see it mentioned or run on any of the television stations. So I think it would qualify as underrated.
Duval had to put up a big chunk of his own money ($4 million) out of his own money to have it finished. He got his money back when it grossed decently though.
I'd rank it up there with Tender Merciesas among his quality but lesser known movies.
Great performances and a good story about a flawed man who nevertheless has some positive qualities and can be a force for good to those he meets.
