I felt excitement and paralyzing fear at the same time. I always wanted to know who was the bigger badass (I think we all assumed it was Slater), but what if they didn't make up? Would the rest of their high school experience be awkward stare downs across the hall, especially since they had the same group of friends? Thankfully we didn't have to find that out.

Clearly one of them would have to break off, and it'd likely be Slater since he had another cohort, being the jocks. Zack and Jessie were friends since they were little, and Zack was Screech's best friend. Zack and Kelly were Zack and Kelly. Assuming Slater and Jessie were still dating, they could still hang out the 2 of them, and after school of course, but when it comes to hanging out in big groups, I think Slater would be the most likely to split.

Slater played football, basketball, wrestled, and ran track. But Zack did basketball, track, and baseball (in 8th grade at least). So Zack would've been down with jocks too.

Right, but we dont' see him intermingling between groups like we occasionally see Slater do. At least not as much. Also, Zack was there first, so if it came down to the nitty gritty and the group couldn't handle both of them, logically it would be Slater that would have to leave.
