I dont travel to away games, but from a real college football tradition standpoint, I understand the OPs point. Its commercial vs tradition.

For example, if it so important for us to recruit Houston, go play Rice there on a road trip and Wisconsin in Death Valley. Wanna recruit Dallas, play SMU there. Wanna recruit Memphis, play Memphis there. Wanna recruit South Florida, play Florida Atlantic in Miami. Personally. I would go to all of these road trips.

Wow, you have no idea what you're talking about. You know how much money LSU loses by playing a game at Rice, or Memphis? Do you know how many people fit in their stadiums? Do you know that those games won't even be on fricking TV? Do you know anything, at all?

We still get money for playing neutral sites. We get to play in these kickoff games that take up a primetime spot the first weekend of football. Millions and millions of people will be watching our Tigers play.

Sure, like another directional school.

Not many teams want to do the traditional home and home anymore.

how the neutral site thing is ruining college football

You're an idiot.

Home and home series are a thing of the past with big programs man. Yeah, you'll make your usual take with the home game, but you'll be losing money having to travel somewhere else. With the neutral sites you get just as much if not more than you would even a home game because of the huge TV money involved.
Yeah, I'd love to take a road trip up to Wisconsin, but what does LSU get from that? If you do a neutral game/series, both schools still make serious bank to alleviate losing the home game.

And if you don't think traveling to NFL stadiums to play other CFB powers isn't awesome, IDK what to tell you. Not to mention the fact that with the new playoff, you'll absolutely need things like this to beef up your resume for the selection committee. The days of playing 4 no-names is over (not that LSU does that all that much.) You need to schedule these year in and year out. That's just how it is.

I live in Houston and couldn't agree more... It can't be the TV draw... Heck our games against UAB and Kent are on TV... We practically lose money traveling like that - look at bowl game costs vs. income... So, it's not for tv, it's not for money... Is it just about recruiting??? Because you already made the points against that as a rationale... Finally. Sanity.

Why would I give up my tickets? Because I'd prefer we play high profile OOC games at our home stadium rather than neutral sites?

Sure...makes perfect sense.

Not many OOC teams want to come to Tiger Stadium. This isn't a simple issue of LSU preferring to play neutral site vs. home and home. Most of the time neutral site games are the only way to get a marquee opponent to agree to the game.

If this is the case, then I'd like to hear someone at LSU tell ticket holder that we tried to get Wisky to do a home and home and they balked. Otherwise, this just looks like a money grab...which I'm not against per se. Just be honest about it.

Telling this stud recruiting class that they get to open their careers in reluant stadium and get to play in legendary lambeau field is a pretty cool thing

I cannot believe we are playing Wisconsin at 2 neutral sites, once of which is in freakin Wisconsin. It's being sold as a pseudo home and home, but clearly it's not even close to that. I would MUCH prefer to play a real home and home with Wisconsin. Why wouldn't we just do that?

Both teams have to agree on this. Were you involved in the discussions? Do you know, like these other posters, that LSU is the one stopping this from happening?

Did you stop to think for a second that there is a possibility that the two teams wouldn't play at all if they didn't do the series this way? They were in discussions about this series for a while, I'm sure there was an effort to get home/home. You have to compromise though sometimes.

I 100%^100% agree with the op.

What do season ticket holders get for their ever increasing costs:

One or two great sec games, two or three mediocre sec games, three flat out shite cupcake games.

Thanks Obama.

You think LSU vs. UAB and Kent are the same TV draw as LSU vs. TCU to open the season?

Um how about home games against Florida, Auburn, aTm, and Arkansas this year?
And then Miss State, Ole Miss, Bama, and and another east team the other year.

If you're bitching about that...I don't know what to tell you.

Woooo... It's cheaper to buy off of stubhub for these games and you don't have to sit in the upper deck.

That's my point. Maybe two great games this year and the rest mediocre to crap. We used to at least be able to look forward to a marquee ooc opponent every few years to go along with that.
