Half of the quarterfinals is now set. A quick run-through.
Nadal is into the quarters after a straight set win of Jerzy Janowicz. Straights sets though it was, this match was very competitive. Janowicz is absolutely the real deal. He has all the tools: he can hit every shot in the book and he's a legit athlete. He just needs to put it all together and learn how to most effectively utilize his repertoire. In other words, he has so many different options because he can hit such a wide variety of shots, but he just hasn't quite figured out when to use each option. This is also said about Dimitrov, but I think Janowicz has more upside than Dimitrov.
My boy Ernst Gulbis scored a major upset win over Andy Murray. Whupped him good.
Aussie Matosevic beat Benoit Paire and provided further evidence to the edict that you never ever bet on a Frenchmen. And I didn't. Matosevic gets Nadal next, and I don't like the Aussie's chances.
Vasek Pospisil scored a nice upset win over Berdych. I didn't see the match, but I did see bits and pieces of Pospisil's match against Isner, and I really like his game. He moves really well around the court. From the way he was moving I figured he was 6-1 or 6-2...I was surprised to see that he's actually 6-4.
The match fixing Russian Davydenko is up a set on Bogomolov. And he should win the match...unless the match is fixed. You never now. The winner plays Pospisil.
Del Potro and Raonic is just getting underway. I expect Delpo to win this one because I think Milos Raonic blows monkey dick. And I put a little coin on Delpo in accordance with my aforementioned thoughts. The winner will play my boy Ernie Gulbis.
In the most interesting match of the evening, imo, Kei Nishikori takes on Richard Gasquet and his coke habit. Kei is one of my favorite up and comers. If he is going to make the leap into the tennis elite, this is the type of match he needs to win.
The winner of Nishikori/Gasquet will take on the winner of Djokovic/Istomin. In other words, the winner of Nishikori/Gasquet will take on Djokovic.

What the hell do I know? Raonic won in straights.

Novak -700 against Gasquet
Rafa -1250 against Matosevic
I'm strangely gun shy. Can't decide whether to go in on one or the other or both or neither.
