Both had through the roof expectations before the season started. More than one "expert" even had them playing against each other in the Series.

Alas, the Angels sit at 51-61 (.455), 13 games back of Oakland with the Nats at 54-59 (.478), 14.5 games back of Atlanta.

Both have almost no chance of making the postseason at this point & it's only the first week of August.

The Nats are only 8 games out of the WC I wouldn't say they're out but they won't be winning the NL East

Nats they have been horrible and they have been the TMZ Sports Natzi' aka ESPN's World Series Champ even before the season started. They have all that talent and are going no where.

This isn't a very fair question.

Nats young team that talked shite and haven't come through.

Angels throw money at vets like I throw at strippers and are historic flops

MSB answer- Nats cause they got some posters panties in a wad

Reality- Angels

Easily the Angels. The Nats never stood a chance against the Braves in the East.

As a Rangers fan, I am happy to see the Angels fall flat on their face.

8 games out of the wild card is dead in the water. It's not just the number of games, but the number of teams you need to collapse. The Nats have a better chance of winning the East than getting the WC, and neither is likely at all.

The Nats are still in good position long term, so while this is still a disaster of a year, it's nothing like the Angels who basically mortgage the future for the present... and now the present sucks too. They put all their eggs in this season's basket, and they still can't pitch. what's beautiful is that this collapse wasn't all that unpredictable, so it just reeks of hubris.

They are 8 games out, but the three of the four teams are battling each other for the NL Central & WC. I can't see Arizona getting one of the spots so it's up the Pirates, Cards and Reds.

Winner, although I am disappointed in the Nats.

Nats. The Angels had obvious holes and question marks throughout their pitching staff. The Nats on the other hand were a complete team and the WS favorites.

Saw this coming. I thought Dickey was too unpredictable to mortgage the future for. Josh Johnson is terrible and Buehrle is nothing more than a 3-4 on a playoff team.

I remember the Hamilton signing thread and how everybody was on their knees blowing the Angels.

And I cautioned everybody to see how things would shake out because the 2013 Angels reminded me a lot of the 2001 Rangers on paper.

And sure enough it's pretty similar.

What a disaster.

How are they going to be able to afford Trumbo and Trout? I know they have a big TV contract, but still.
