Hey, now. There is some intelligent discourse on there.

I might seem a bit greedy but I want the best players to play for the US no matter what connections they have.

I get what the guy is saying, and think he has his heart in the right place. But at the same time we are not as advanced as a soccer nation to turn away talent that could contribute to the success of our team in international competition. So I agree with you, at this point I just want the best players playing, maybe one day we will have the luxury of being more choosey. At least that is the dream.

The fact Aron accepts and embraces that he's Kevin Bacon's doppelgänger makes me love him already

I understand Iceland's beef. They are a country of 300k. We have 300 million. I just feel bad poaching their players.

why?

it's for the player's own good

would you want to be stuck on Iceland with the Iceland budget and Iceland teammates?

per soccerbyives, Aron will take part in our USMNT training camp in preperation for Bosnia.

His ability to play depends on FIFA's turn around time regarding his petition to switch national teams.

Iceland has a decent chance of actually qualifying for the WC. They've spent a lot of money the last 20 years building infrastructure for soccer, like indoor facilities, small pitches, etc., especially along the lines of stuff that lets them play year round. When I visited there I saw an Iceland match. The country is smaller than Baton Rouge, population wise, and everyone knows everyone. A friend of mine was friends with Iceland's goalkeeper. He also plays indoor regularly at the place that Sigurdson played growing up.

CSB/humblebrag, but screw their FA. That guy is going Waldo and scoring goals for his place of birth.
