The Polyphonic Spree - Yes It's True

I know this band has a stigma but that's mostly because they are misunderstood. They are actually are very talented and it's crazy that they are still able to keep things going with such a large band.

The first time I saw this band was at Voodoo Fest '04. A classmate of mine at LSU had mentioned them so I thought I would check them out while I was there. They had a 1pm slot or something like that and it was HOT for late October / early November. Nevertheless they were all out their in their robes, sweating their asses off and playing to a constantly growing crowd. I was blown away at what I saw. 20-30 people on stage and every person was into it. They stole the show and The Killers who were playing next, could not follow an act like that. Since then, I've probably seen them 6 or 7 times (2 Xmas Shows in Dallas) and every time has been an awesome experience. If you ever get a chance to see these guys live, check them out.

Their new album, Yes It's True, comes out in a week. I was given an advanced copy and have given it many listens and can say it is on par with the quality of their previous work, which is awesome. So if you like their previous albums, make sure you check this one out and you will not be disappointed.

They were a spectacle the first time I saw them.....the 2nd time less so. Then I just got bored with their schtick. There are several good musicians who have played with the Spree and then started their own bands. St. Vincent I guess is the best known.

This was also the first time I saw them. I was a sophomore in high school. Good times. I've only seen them twice. The second time I saw them was at the house of blues in the summer of 2007 I think. I liked that show better. They came out for the encore with a cover of Lithium. It was a blast.

I had no idea that they were actually coming out with a new album. I heard some rumors about it about a year or 2 ago. I'm glad they finally got it going. I'm pretty damn excited to give it a listen.

I was at that show too. It was probably their best performance that I've seen. I actually recorded the whole show with an attachment to my ipod.

I think the ball got rolling on the new album because of kickstarter coming to the scene. They funded the new album and tour (part of it?) completely with a campaign. Kickstarter was made for this band.
