Surprisingly, Cam Cameron's offense may be very similar to what Miles has been trying to run for the past few years.

However, a master will be running the offense instead of a group of offensive novices.

Cameron understands the purpose and timing of each of these plays; somthing Miles and his novices didn't have a clue about.

The changes are primarily in the new terminology and emphisis on what the plays are trying to attack.

Your QB may surprise this year, but I doubt the full effectiveness of Cameron's offense will be achieved until the end of 2014 or 2015.

Wasn't that Les' excuse last year, it wasn't the play calling it was the execution. Many coaches lose their jobs because of failed execution, very few get raises to over $4 million

And?

During the Spring Game:

Play 787--Mettenberger hit Dillon Gordon for a 15-yard score on this play, and it's a great red-zone call because most teams love zone in that area of the field with the safeties split to help the corners. Frankly, it's easier to trust the linebackers covering a tight end when they just won't have to get too deep, and the back of the endzone helps in that regard. When you have taller tight ends like Gordon or Logan Stokes (6-6 and 6-5), the QB can simply zip it high where either his guy can make the catch or the pass sails out of bounds.

And if one of the safeties hug the inside, the quarterback just aims for the back pylon to that side and sees if he can hit the corner. Ideally, he should have some idea whether he's throwing inside or out before the snap.

Bama game 2013:

415 Choice Play

Same principles, slightly different execution, with a slot receiver taking the top off the defense with a choice route, or a basic deep option route that can break to the post or the corner depending on where the open space is. Z- runs a comeback, Y- goes to the flat where the underneath defenders are again, in a bind due to the room the deep route creates. Mettenberger had a lot of success with this play against Alabama last season, and also threw a 79-yard touchdown to Odell Beckham Jr. on the choice route in the Spring Game.

So that's the reason JC Copeland didn't go 65 on the fullback dive on 3rd and 5 down by 15 in the BCS National Championship game versus Bama.

I see now. Thanks.

Tiger Rant is the only team page open to me, so I have become interested in LSU.

Nobody is interested in talking about Ohio St. on this site, so I don't bore anyone about my Buckeyes on here.

Cam Cameron has coached against my Cleveland Browns for many years, and I respect him as an offensive coordinator.

I expect LSU to do a lot better with Cameron's offense because I know Cameron better than most on here.

The Baltimore fans would rather blame Cameron instead of Flacco, but not me.

Because the QB and reciever must know each other as well as the playbook and that takes time.

Look how long it has taken Flaco in Baltimore, and he has much more talent than any of the LSU QBs.

Furthermore, the TE has been almost totally ignored by LSU in the past few years, and RB has to get involved to maximize Cameron's offense.

All of that is not going to happen this year.

I expect the offense to explode this year. All the ingredients are there.

It absolutely will. Senior QB and an offensive line that was young and gelled late last season now come into their own. Plus the additions of top notch receiving targets. There is no reason not to. I love that Stud can focus straight onto the o-line again and that LSU has an actual OC running the show.

pretty tough to execute when your runs and passes are predictable. just because it was 50-50 run pass ratio did not mean diddley squat. most of our passes were comebacks, curls and slants. we never threw a crossing route until the bama game, not enough deeper routes either using the whole field.
