High salary contract does not mean it's a posion pill contract. For example, the Evans deal. Not a pill.

I do. It increases the salary for the team who has to match the offer but not for the team who offers it. Add in the fact that they will be luxary tax territory. Not a chance they match.

It's the same amount of money over the course of the contract. All it does is change the cap hit.

Let's say we were to offer player X a 4 year $40 million contract. With the poison pill, you backload it. So year 1 and 2 you pay $5m and in years 3 and 4 you pay $15m but the caphit never reaches the $15m instead it averages out over the course of the contract.

If the team were to match, they wouldn't get the benefit of that rule.

Let's all ignore the fact that the Pels have a higher team salary on the books than the Pacers do. Larry Bird has said they will match any offer, ignore that too. Also, please ignore the fact that George is 23 yrs old and a budding superstar, because if the Pels really wanted him,EG and JSmith would easily get the sign and trade done. AMIRITE?

Remember when Pat Reilly said they wouldn't amnesty anyone? Not everything everyone says is true. If I told you last year the Pelicans would get Jrue Holiday, you would likely have had the same reaction. This is a strong possibility. Dell loves George and the Pacers are capstrapped.

Benson is very wealthy and will shell out the money for a player like George. To say we don't have the money for a poison pill contract is absurd.

We aren't getting Paul George. He isn't even going to hit the market. He'll sign a max contract with the Pacers. Even if he did get to free agency the Pacers would match anything. Anything.

And you really think the Pacers would trade George for Gordon and and a role player?

You either have to be the biggest dumbass in the history of the Pelicans Talk or trolling.

With Granger coming off the books, I feel like they will have enough room under the tax tho

For the last time, the Pelicans have MORE contract money on the books in the upcoming years than the Pacers do. So however much it would cost the Pacers it would cost the Pels even more. You are an idiot and a troll. I have fed you enough for tonight, can not wait for our future encounters. Go ahead and buy that Pels George jersey, bc that's a lock. No chance he's on any other team besides the Pels next year.

We're to page 4, and no one has agreed so far. So either we're all right and you just don't know it or you're the smartest poster in PT history.

Option 3, of course: You're trolling.

A realistic target would be a Jeff Green type player from a team looking for expiring deals and tankatron in feb...we will c...but it's all irrelevant if we don't get oden

No it isn't. And Dell probably loves Lebron James, does that mean he'll be in a Pelican's uniform? frick no. And the Pacer's actually have more cap space than we do and Granger will either be traded or let go.

Once again give up this fricking retarded dream of your's and realize that the core of the current roster is sticking together for a while.

Never said it was a lock, just said it was possible. Just because I have a different opinion than you, doesn't mean I am a idiot. Just means we disagree. It is a sign you lost the argument when you resort to name calling.

Yeah, you really killed me in this debate.

You are a fantastic troll by the way, and you did win the troll battle. I'll give you that.

Says the guy who thinks Pels are getting Paul George for "EG and a role player"

You're great. Your wealth of knowledge is almost overwhelming.
