That's the second Razorback in two months. Last month it was Veronica Campbell.

Both Gay and Campbell trained with Lance Brauman, the former Arkansas track coach who went to prison and caused the Razorbacks to be put on probation and get stripped of two national titles.

I was really hoping that Gay was clean because it would mean that we are still improving our training techniques and that humble guys can be successful in sports too. This really makes you think, has anyone under 9.9 been clean? Maybe human capacity is really only a 9.82-5 or so.

Now this begs the question, is ANYONE on the Jamaican team clean? If they are destroying the US, and the top US guy is dirty, what's going on in Kingston?

Track and cycling. Don't we just have to assume that these two sports are pretty much riddled with PEDs?

You might want to throw in swimming and weight lifting too. Generally speaking, the temptation to cheat will be the greatest in sports in which performance is measure by the stop watch, the tape measure or the scale. A tenth of a second is an eternity in the 100 meter dash, and once a sprinter loses a step, he/she is finished. In baseball, basketball and football, athletes can still be productive, earn good salaries and sometimes compete at an all-star level well past their peak years.

Ummm, Campbell is Jamaican. I think it's been pretty well accepted that there is something extra being done with Jamaican athletes.

Arkansas quickly dissassociated with Bauman and gave up it's titles he was a part of. I however don't recognize the NCAA's authority, so I still claim them because what they actually nailed Bauman on was petty.

ETA: That article doesn't mention a thing about Bauman or anything other than Gay declining to mention who he trusted, implying he knew what he took that popped positive.

Change "track and cycling" to "every single sport" and I agree.

Good points. There is a relativeness in the other sports that can be appreciated and rewarded which cannot be rewarded in timed sports. This also begs the question about how much oversight and enforcement is occurring in these sports. I would imagine that the moneymakers don't exactly want to cutoff their revenue sources but they also don't want to appear like they are entirely complacent to wanting their sport to be "clean.' It is an interesting line they try to walk.

Except T&F has a very stringent testing program and does catch most of the cheaters.....Gay was caught as are many other top athletes. Is Jamaica cheating? Maybe, but it's hard to believe a country and national program as $ poor as Jamaica has developed an undetectable drug while the US hasn't.

I know for a fact that the testing in track and field and cycling are much more thorough than the testing in baseball, football and basketball. For example, Eric Reid and Kimberlyn Duncan are two LSU alumni that should both have successful pro careers provided they stay healthy, but Duncan will likely get tested more times in 2013 than Reid will get tested in his entire career.

Just to play Saban's advocate, cyclists are the most tested athletes in the world and Lance Armstrong managed to outsmart the system his whole career.

Who cares?

Either let them all use PEDs or none. It's that simple.
