Anyone on the North Shore wanna help a fellow OB enthusiast do this?
I've only done one water pump before(helped)on a 1974 Evinrude 85 and that was 18 years ago...

Where u at? It's not that hard. Has it been in salt water? The hardest part is getting the keyway out to replace the bottom plate. If its been in salt water, it makes it worse. I'm just west of hammond. I'll be glad to help if you need it.

I'm in Slidell...Yes, it's been in saltwater, but not since it was changed last time...the boat sat for 2 years and upon firing it up on the muffs, I think the impeller was stuck or brittle and went out again...so really the foot should be easy to take down...I need to bring it back from my Father in laws camp in Bay Saint Louis...need to put a new 4way plug on it as his mutt chewed it up...I may just put new tires on it as well...they look dry rot...

The imperllor is prob dry rotted. I would suggest replacing the whole kit. They sell them on ebay for half what the boat places want. I would also go ahead and change the lower unit oil while you are at it, I do both of these things once a year at the same time.
Also I would have someone help me on these bigger motors the lower unit is heavy and you cannot hold it up and bolt it back down by yourself. I have a 200hp and have two other guys help me when I do it.
