Just rewatched this comedy, and think it has and will continue to hold up. To me this will be the quintessential high school comedy. I've never been a big fan of American Pie, and while I love Dazed and Confused more than Superbad, never really had many experiences like that aside the water tower party.
Superbad just gets the awkward stupidness of high school and the situations right. Showing up to a house party that you don't know anyone at just to steal booze, half the conversations, running into the cops (although Fogell's side of that was more unrealistic), blindly thinking that girls using you means they want to bang you were all well done in this, and of course using the guy you can't stand who has a fake to get it for you. Just really felt like they got the high school experience right.

Yeah, Superbad feels realistic in terms of those high school interactions.

Seth and Evan wrote it from age 13-25. They talk about it on every Podcast- see the latest Marc Maron.

Agreed. I think it's the best Apatow Company movie.

Can't believe this movie came out 6 years ago. I remember seeing it my junior year of high school, and it was probably the most I've ever laughed in a movie theater.

This.
Dazed and Confused is dead-on for the 70's. Superbad might be the typical experience of the teen of the 00's, I wouldn't know.

I heard she got a breast reduction...what, that's like slapping god in the face. Let's go get a glimpse of these warlocks

I think Superbad will age just about as well as Dazed and Confused did. They very much tried to give it a nostalgic and retro vibe, which when successful almost always age better. Therefore I think the situations in this film are pretty timeless. Even though it wasn't at the time, Superbad knew it would be great and tried to make it into a period piece of sorts to make sure it would last.

That's an honest to god had the exact conversation with someone in high school. Hot chick who is a very dear friend got it, and her ex told me she got breast reduction over the summer due to back problems. I told him it was like slapping god between the face, but he assured me that they were more well rounded and that she's now in better shape than she's ever been.
That conversation in addition to the boner in the waistband and getting chicks drunk to be that one mistake. That's what made me love this movie so much is that I've been in all these situations and conversations.

Another underrated aspect of this movie is that its success allowed a ton of other great comedys in this decade that i dont think would have ever seen the light of day without superbad

saw it awhile after it came out so it didnt live up to the hype. mclovin storyline was the only one that held my attention.
the ending was terrible. i thought the 2 kids were gonna start making out.
dazed and confused was on the other day and it never gets old.
