Is buying a PS4 a good idea in my situation?

I have a PS3 now and usually play NCAA football, madden, a NBA game and some random others (skyrim, red dead redemption etc) and plan on picking up GTA. I don't play many hours though when it comes down to it. Will the PS4 be that much better than the PS3 to justify buying it? I haven't touched my PS3 in months. Have a job, so the money isn't a huge deal, just don't want to waste my money.

Doesn't really sound like it to me.

Eventually they will stop making games for the PS3 and you will likely want to play the PS4 version NCAA, Madden, etc so you'll have to switch over in a few years.

I'd wait. Most of the games you play will continue to be supported by PS3 for a few years most likely.

Thanks for the responses guys, that is what I was thinking. Will the graphics be much different in games like NCAA, madden and GTA? Not that the PS3 are bad at all

I would definitely wait if I were you. GTA V isn't even coming out on next gen for a good while, plus Xbox One is better anyway

I don't think the jump in the games you play will be that massive in the first year or 2.

Im going to wait this time, just because i have a shite ton of ps3 games back logged rt now and even more i want to play. I usually wait for price drops on games unless its something i need to get rt away so i can play when everyone else is playing. Only reason i really jumped to ps3 so soon was they were originally backwards compatible. The first game i played on ps3 was god of war 2, a ps2 game.

And i assume all ps3 shite will go down in price once ps4 is released. I know PS2 still lasted a while after ps3 released. Youll still be able to get all the new sports games on ps3. You will prob be good for at least a year.

Yea, but this is the last year that they are putting out new games on the ps2.

Solid 13 year run if you ask me

To answer the op. There is no reason for you to buy a ps4. Sounds like all the gaming you want to do is possible on the ps3.

i would consider myself a casual gamer. I play for about 45 min every other day or so, and I have no intention of buying a ps4 when it is released. I am going to wait until the verdict is out on both systems.

Just stick with what you have and save yourself $400

This is probably the most sound advice as I will admit I know what I will be getting so take that for what it is.

Only thing that really matters is if you have friends that will be moving onto the new consoles. If you play them online or want to take part in that type of thing, then you'll likely need to get it. Considering the games you're interesting in are all multiplatform title, getting the cheaper one is the better option.

Kind of smart to at least keep this franchise going on the PS2 as it makes it much more accessible in developing countries.
