The SO wants a gas grill in addition to my smoker that we already have. I'm not familiar with gas grills. I'm a charcoal and smoker kinda guy. What does the OB say?

Also I believer I can hook it up to the natural gas hook-up on the back porch. Not too sure how that works though.

Charbroil. Get one with a searer for steaks.

When you say searer, do you mean the little side burner?

Best bang for buck will come from Onward Manufacturing brands. I have a Huntington and love it. Same price as the disposables from the big box stores, but these actually last a few seasons.

You need the converter kit to use natural gas.

Also, as a rule of thumb the "heavier" the lid, the better the grill will be. All the other functions etc are bascially bs they all last the same. If all else is equal, buy the heavier, sturdier lid.

I got a Charbroil Commercial rig 6 years ago for fathers day. About a $550 grill. Hooked it up to natural gas on the back porch. Damn easy and convenient. Much prefer charcoal, but the grill served its purpose well. My only knock was that it wouldn't get very hot. 400ish deg tops. That was until yesterday when I took the grates out for a cleaning. The entire bottom is gone. I might can cook 2-3 more times on this thing before the whole bottom falls out on my patio. 6 years old, supposed stainless steel(it's not), never seen a drop of rain. It's history. A few months ago I would have recommended it to you. Not the case now. They apparently are a piece of shite..

The Huntington's do look nice. Where did you purchase yours? And do you have it hooked up to natural gas?

My dad has had the same experience with every gas grill he's ever owned. I guess the humidity down here kills 'em. That's why I love my smoker it's pretty hard to break down that heavy metal.

Weber Spirit or Genesis (if you plan to cook a ton of food). I have had cheaper brands and will never go back.

My previous grill was not working too good. Pulled the huge one piece brass burner. Found a drill bit slightly larger than the original holes. Drilled it out and in the process, and 1.5 pounds of crap fell out. That baby burned after that.

Weber, Genesis for the $800 and up range, and Spirit for the $500 range. Best grill I have ever had.

I think mine is a gas pressure issue with the gas line I have ran onto my back patio. It would get a lot hotter on propane before I switched it to NG. I was really bummed to see the whole innards of the thing are rusted and falling apart. Cheap China made shite.

My grandpaw gave me a weber. Its 20 years old cooked on it saturday. I need new burner covers for it but its still in great shape. Probaly never buy anything other than a weber. I use grill at least 2 times a week so its not like it doesn't get used.
