How is that possible? I know the park doesn't carry the ball, but this is still unfrigginbelievable!

great pitching and defense
fundamentally sound on offense
they just didn't make many mistakes
I can't believe a team with an overall BA of .250 won the CWS, though. That's got to be a record.

The Bruins' .227 batting average in the CWS also was the lowest since teams went away from wood bats. The Bruins' 19 runs in four games were the fewest by a champion since the CWS went to eight teams in 1950.
They really did pitch great - you just can't blame a ballpark...otherwise so many parks everywhere would allow certain teams to dominate.
But that is a funny stat.

.227, even fricking worse than I thought

Plutko and Berg. Small ball. End thread.

I have been leery of all the ballpark is a major issue talk...
But that is quite jarring...nobody pitches that well.
Lowest batting average since the wood bat era in college baseball - I guess the CWS organizers got their wish - make the new bats play like wood bats.

You can't JUST blame it but UCLA was saved by the park numerous times on balls that should have been homers. Fact is, if LSU's potential homers happen, UCLA is immediately in the losers bracket and likely home a lone time ago.

0.80 era....a record for the aluminum bat era.
Bruins had 12 sacrifices in their five games in Omaha, tying a record established in 1962.
"Fifteen years ago, there were 62 home runs hit by the final eight teams in the NCAA tournament. This year, there were three.
Pitching and defense rules. And UCLA showed plenty of both."
"UCLA starters combined to pitch 34 innings, giving up 21 hits, five walks and only three earned runs. In support, the defense made only three errors.
It was UCLA’s third CWS appearance in four years, and and their first title - it’s clear the Bruins have mastered the new era in college baseball."
If everyone's complaints are spot on - it appears the right team certainly won it.
UCLA is built for this new era.

Your schtick is so old. Yes lsu fans can be delusional at times but the repetitive over perpetuation gets really old and it isn't funny.
This just off of the first page of his posting history:
Doesn't matter, LSU was still the best team in Omaha, no doubt...
Im4lsu... I've been thinking all day and decided you were right. LSU is better than UCLA ( and all the other CWS teams) Please forgive my impure thoughts last night...
I realized how wrong I was, LSU is the best, I can't believe I ever thought differently I really am ashamed of myself...
LSUs the best, case closed, end of discussion ...
LSU is the best team and everyone knows it, even though they were 0-2 in Omaha ...
All I know is LSU is the best team and should be #1, despite going 0-2 in Omaha ...
It's ok, everyone knows LSU is still the best team this year...
Doesn't matter that Lsu went 0-2, they are still the best. Don't you know that?...
Don't care, LSU is still the best...
So anytime someone has an opinion that may not be exactly the same as the majority, they are trolling? I'm not allowed to think a little differently than you guys? I promise I'm not trying to piss people off, just trying to debate another side of the a...

LSU also lost to UNC. They weren't the best team when it came to execution

Ucla played good ball props to them totally. However, Hope they enjoyed it bc the powers that be will bow down to the SEC and what we want, I have no doubt that in a few years that park will be shallower and we'll probably be using a livelier ball.
Like it or not the HR WILL be back. It's too exciting to keep out. Lsu still played like crap no excuses but the game will be different.

If LSU was the best team, they'd have beaten ucla. Fact is, they made critical defensive errors. ucla didn't, and the bRuins made LSU pay.
The best teams win championships, and as much as ucla winning anything makes me want to vomit, they were the "best team."
No matter how talented you are, if you don't execute when it counts, you aren't the best.
