So the team with 1.5 earned runs/game in Omaha is one win away from a title. This is not good for the popularity of the sport.

How boring baseball is in general isn't very good for the sport either.

UCLA has the most experience playing in this park. They've been practicing these shenanigans for years. I hope they win 1-0 nothing tonight with that one run being unearned. This will throw up an even larger red flag and hopefully cause the NCAA to switch to the minor league baseball.

6 teams have played for the title in the 3 years of the new park. UCLA this year is the first "small ball" team to get there.....and somehow everyone overreacts to it. I'm not saying changes shouldn't be made, clearly livening up the ball or moving in the walls need to be done. But to act like UCLA has a decided advantage because of the park is ridiculous. Miss St made it to this point, they aren't a small ball team. They have pitched well, played good defense, and have timely hitting.

Arizona was small ball last year. They pounded the ball into the turf for infield singles.

Small ball is the name of the game--sounds like drives to the outfield do not carry at all at that stadium in Omaha.

It is a shame--I believe if UCLA wins it, they will be one of the worst national title teams ever.

But it sounds like teams who make it to the CWS will definitely have to adjust to that stadium.

What's stopping a team from hitting it between the infielders and outfielders, or in the gap? You could run for days if you hit in those huge gaps. The park isn't preventing that. You guys make it sound like there are only two options: bunt or homerun. We stranded a shitload of runners on base against UNC. We blew a 1-0 lead against UCLA making 2 awful errors.

And yet the ballpark beat LSU. Excuses, excuses!

People that say this is "real baseball" crack me up. No, throwing belt high fastballs so they can be crushed but fall short due to shitty equipment is not real baseball.

Lucky in the sense that this park with these bats and balls is to the BENEFIT of them. UCLA fans would be bitching if we played in a small park with the 2009 bats because we would have won that first game 10-2 and they wouldnt be in the finals. They are lucky that they are in a situation that accentuates their strengths and hides their flaws and suppresses the team's like LSU of their advantages. Nola outpitched Plutko the other night and pitches more true to the game. He didnt reach back and throw BP fastballs down the heart of the plate and dare the other team to hit them out because he knew they couldnt. Plutko pitched SMART and they took advantage of the situation, which was the right thing to do. LSU should have adapated and they didnt so we got beat, and you cant take that away from UCLA. With all that being said, that wasnt true baseball and it put a flawed game on the grand stage. A pitcher should be intimidated to throw a belt high 89 mph fastball down the middle, not encouraged. Anyone who thinks THIS is the way the game is played or should be played has lost all credibility and knows jack shite about the game.

it isn't really timely hitting if you hit a grounder right to the shortstop and he boots it with 2 outs and a runner on second.

That is luck

Please explain how this big park made Bregman go 0-8. The same guy who had 98 singles, doubles and triples prior to getting to Omaha ... and only 6 HRs.

What a bunch of bitches on here. I bet the same posters who think UCLA's style is boring, slow, no offense are the same that thought the 9-6 Bama game was the greatest football game ever.
