Kobe Bryant's clutch gene

I hear all the time that Kobe is so clutch I hear that he's an "assassin" the "mamba". He's known for being clutch but why? Kobe has hit 7 game winning or tying shots in the playoffs and has taken 27 of them. That's about 26%. Honestly that's not very good. On the contrary a guy that's considered a choke artist by most Kobe fans, LeBron James , has made 6 playoff game winning or tying while taking a total of 14. That's around 43%. So why does Kobe get labeled "clutch" and LBJ gets labeled "LeChoke"?

The only people that label Kobe ''clutch'' are Kobe/Laker fans.

Because Shaq carried Kobe to 3 championships early in Kobe's career.

b/c kobe did it early in his career, so the first impression still lingers despite statistical evidence.

Simply because Kobe wasn't the chosen one #1 overall pick like Lebron with all the hype behind him. He also won a title in his 4th year, and the entire league wasn't on his back.
By the time we realized how good he was, he was winning titles. We knew Lebron was a great player long before he won titles and his failures in the playoffs gave him that stigma.

He's not clutch but he is an assassin, fearless. Great offensive game. Wonder how high his fg% would be if he passed to an outside guy every time he couldn't get an easy shot a la Le BROUGHN

His FG% would be better and his team would be better. Your praising Kobe for taking awful shots? That's not a good thing. That doesn't make him an "assassin". It makes his selfish.

Seriously?
He was drawing MJ comparisons very early on. He started the 1998 All-Star Game at age 19 and his match-up with MJ was all the buzz. He wasn't drafted highly, mainly because a guard had never been drafted out of HS at that point, but he was regarded as a sure thing not long after he set foot on the court.

Since 2000, Kobe's FG% is lowest in the 4th quarter all but two years, and his fg% is at it's lowest in the final 3 minutes of the quarter in every season.

Shaq was the most dominant center of his era when he was in his prime
Kobe was pretty mediocre early in his career and came on much stronger at the end of the run with Shaq

I don't get it. LeBron makes the smart play and passes when everybody expects he'll take the last shot and he's a bitch. Kobe throws up prayers and misses almost all of them because it's his glory or nobody's glory, Derek Fisher and Robert Horry are more of "assassins" and buzzer beaters.

Because clutch isn't just the last shot of the game.
There has been countless times that I've seen Kobe just go off in the 4th quarter and completely put the team on his back and pull them to victory.
LeBron often seems to disappear in the 4th quarter, whereas Kobe seemed to come alive during crunch time.
