Anyone ever camped here during the summer and can give me some tips?
Things to bring? Things to leave? Plan on fishing during the day, is there a place to clean fish at the park?
Probably just shower in the ocean and head to Arties from there.

IN. I'd like to know. We were also looking at Buccaneer State Park in MS. They just opened the wavepool back up last weekend. Redfish, crabs, and flounder can be caught just across the street off the beach.

There's a shower there. Book in advance. The spots go quick. Bring minimal crap bc you have to carry it

A tent. On the beach. In Louisiana. In the summer.
I guess bring all those torture devices you're into.

Have done it before, it is HOT!! Haven't been since it has re-opened. I would strongly suggest an RV or a hotel in lieu of camping in a tent.
Another tip... find something that repels sand fleas by day two of your stay they will be eating you up in your tent.

55 Gallon drum of Off..........Never seen a place where you could literally get carried away by the skeeters like Grand Isle.

There was a not so positive letter to the editor in The Advocate this week regarding the recent conditions - poorly maintained, garbage everywhere etc. Based on the article I would say bring all listed so far as well as some lawn equipment! have not been this year so only going by what was printed. Take it for what it is worth. Good luck!

Important things to bring:
-3 ftt. wooden stake.
-10 ft length of rope.
-sledge hammer
At dusk, use sledge hammer to drive stake into ground. Tie one end of rope to stake. Tie other end of rope around your ankle.
This will keep the skeeters from picking you up and carrying you into the marsh after dark.

Hopefully you are going in an RV.
That said the sites are all paved pull throughs but there is no shade. All sites have 50/30 amp electricity and water. There is a fish cleaning station by the day use area but you will have to either hike there with a wagon or drive from the camping sites. I would just clean the fish at my camp site and use the fish heads for crab bait. Also you can't see the water from the sites there is about a 12' high sand dune separating that you have to lug your shite across to get to the beach. Not a bad camping site but all there is to do there is the beach.
