Changing rules during the season?

I'm looking for some advice here. I'm in charge of a daily lineup fantasy baseball league and I didn't put in waiver claims or an acquisition limit in the original settings.

Long story short: A new guy in the league is adding as many probable pitchers to reach the max each day and others are starting to follow suit.

Is it a dick move to put in an acquisition limit or waiver claims during the season?

That's what I figured. It's just dumb because the league isn't who owns the best team; it's who can pick up pitchers the fastest.

Guess I chalk it up as my bad and fix it next year

It's just streaming. Learn from his exploits for next year. An innings limit seems like the best option but in my experience an acquisition limit is better to "control" streaming. You don't want to abolish it completely since it is a legit fantasy strategy.

How does the innings limit work?

You're only allowed x amount of innings per match up to accumulate stats. For example if you set it at 100ip/match up (assuming H2H), any stats your pitchers get once you hit that limit do not count. It limits streaming in a sense but match up acquisition limits are much more effective.

I know ESPN has an exploit where you can go into the last day with say 99.9ip for the week and you can run a full stream of however many guys you want and go beyond the limit of 100 and still get all of your stats. Not sure why it's like that but it's flawed.

You need to team up with a few teams and churn. Take a stand!

As far as this year, you can't change the rules.

Next year, play in a 5x5 H2H league using ERA, WHIP, K/9, saves, and either wins or QS (whichever you prefer) for the pitching categories. 3 of the 4 applicable SP stats are ratio stats, therefore it won't swing the matchup towards whoever just starts the most SP. If someone is a good enough manager to where he can consistently start FA SP with success, tip your cap because he is a better fantasy player than you are.

Thanks for all the help guys. I like the H2H idea.

It's just irritating that the two guys doing this are leading my league being last and second to last in every offensive category and in ERA and WHIP, but they get points galore from through 7 pitchers a day. It's dumb. They have over 300 more innings pitched than me and I have 8 less QS

Yeah some dudes in my league do the same but our IP limit is at 140. So basically you need 7-9+ W's a week with 105 K's per week to beat them. Plus they loaded up on RP and RBI hitters so it's been a huge disadvantage to everyone else.

What's wrong with that? I think you could either try to stream along with them or just get stronger where they are weakest. I'm sure they have weak spots on their teams.
