Most of you know I like to post about other kids in the state who might not quite be big enough or fast enough for LSU.

I know this is an LSU board, but this kid has good stuff. I know La Tech is a big fan of him. I also am not Marcus Gaines nor a member of his family. Just heard about him through a recruiter and wanted to share his film.

Watched Marcus since 8th grade. Very shifty and explosive player. His size and durability will be a problem. His is very injury prone. On a positive note he is a very good player and has a great attitude. He will end up at a La Tech or simmilar school.

Had the pleasure of watching a few of his games over the last couple years. He is a game-changer, for sure. He was the sole offensive threat on a very average St. Paul's team last season, and was always a threat to break one for a long gain. If it weren't for his size (5'6 160), his speed would certainly land him some top level offers. I'd love to see him land an offer or two from a BCS conference school.

Congrats to Marcus. He's an electrifying player that is a homerun threat each time he touches the ball. La Tech just got a dynamic playmaker.

That's actually a great comparison.

Here are his sophomore highlights.

i ran track with marcus gaines at st paul's, he was pretty much the fastest guy at the school as a sophomore i knew he ran somewhere in the 10's seconds 100m dash and ran around a 4.4 speed isn't the issue it's his size at 5'7 , he's athletic as hell though

Been watching him play for several years. He is a very game kid, very tough imo. His quickness is what jumps out, and top end speed is good as well. His size will limit his future, but he is a great weapon for St Pauls.

He Committed to La Tech yesterday. Coach Juluke is making some noise in the N.O. area. Every other school that's not LSU will have their hands full with Coach Juluke. He's getting the next best.

And he should. Not only is he a really good coach, but the amount of talent that leaves this state is pretty crazy. Just living off of the lower rated talent in Louisiana and Texas, La Tech should continue the success of the last two seasons.

And as far as the Livas comparison, Livas seemed to be much quicker on the field. Gaines did look pretty smooth as a PR so that will be a great starting point for him.

That was a brilliant hire by Tech. Especially with CJ starting to pull some of the local guys at Tulane.

one day, i'd like to see juluke on the LSU staff.

it's not gonna be fun if/when juluke joins another SEC staff.

It won't be long, especially with the influx of talent NOLA has. Every school wants to establish a pipeline to Louisiana, since LSU really cherry picks the top end talent year after year. I agree with you that (depending on the job he does at Tech - which I am not doubting his coaching ability), he will soon be sought after by SEC schools.

How old is Juluke, btw?

Believe it or not Coach Saban reached out to Juluke after he got hired by Coach Skip at La Tech but he said he was going to stay loyal to Coach Skip for the first few years and then he probably will see what else is out there, he wanted to learn the recruiting game first. But your are right if he gets with another SEC team oh boy lookout. He will be a force to reckon with. Believe it or not he has just as much pull and respect in the N.O. area than Frank Wilson.
