Getting the generator ready for the season and I have STA-bil fuel stabalizer. Do any of you use the STA-bil ethanol treament? My generator is about 8 years old and works like a champ. Which one do you recommend for the season and storage.

I use the ethanol version if the fuel has ethanol in it.
I try to buy ethanol free for all of my small engines so those can usually just get the red stabil.

I try for the ethanol free also, but the closet station that carries it is a mom and pop. During a power outage they close so I'm stuck with the corp. stations. I guess I'll use the STA-bil ethanol this year.

quote:Buy more gas cans. Not that it will eliminate your problem completely but will definitely help. I keep 4 cans full at times with a 5th I use to refuel lawnmower, 4 wheeler, etc.

I rotate them as one empties.

The red Sta-Bil label says...
STA-BIL now contains more corrosion preventers to fight the damaging effects of ethanol in gasoline.
I fill all my storage cans using the red Sta-Bil in May/June (just did mine today). Come November, I pour it all in my truck and use it. Never had a problem in the 15 years I've been doing this, and my old EGens still run great. (I only have access to ethanol fuel around Houston).
A friend of mine who is a small engine repairman recommends something called Fuel Medic. He says it beats the hell out of Sta-Bil. I now have a bottle and will try it once I run out of Sta-Bil.
