After reading this and considering the way all entertainment is switching from disc to all digital media I really don't see the whole used game thing is such a big deal as some. I have always wanted to download the newest games on launch day without having to leave my house and I don't trade my games in so for me this feature is excellent. If MS can handle this service appropriately, which remains to be seen, hopefully we would see a drop in price faster for digital downloads and this form of distribution could become mainstream for all consoles. Hopefully in time it could be a great source for games much like Steam.

Gamefly has nearly a million subscribers, I'd say roughly 65% of them are Xbox.

Ton of people rent games from Red Box.

$60 is a lot to pay for a game when a lot of games that come out really aren't worth $60 when you can rent it and beat in a day or 2.

I would have been pissed if I had spent $60 on Far Cry 3, $60 on Hitman Absolution, $60 on Tomb Raider, $60 on AC3.

I spent $15 and beat all 4 through Gamefly in a month, none were as good as advertised and none had any replay value.

I know things changing can be scary but is it crazy to think that without services like these and redistribution outlets and only digital distribution we could be looking at cheaper prices out of the gate? We could even see priced drop at a faster rate which would benefit everyone.

Also a lot of people only buy new games too so this may not be the worst thing ever. Not to mention you can sell your digital copy online if you wish. I just see such a good product in Steam and see this as the future. I know the Xbox is getting flack because of this but I still expect both consoles to be primarily digital in distribution before the end of this next gen. Games on disc will die.

Also I don't really play enough at a time to beat 4 games in a month.. Well, depending on how short the games are.

The PS3 has offered games digitally for over a year

I bought last years NCAA Football and NHL digitally, and preordered the digital copy for The Last of Us just the other day.

Most games aren't worth $60 though, they'll never be $39.99 which would be perfect.

The 360 has had digital game downloads for much longer than a year but new games were not available the day they were released. This will be the case with the Xb1. Did the PS3 offer games online the same day they were released?

Yes, all of those I mentioned.

Call it Day 1 Digital, download unlocks at midnight and The Last of Us is the first one you can play while it downloads.

Well that's cool but it seems like eventually this could become more and more mainstream. That's just my opinion.

I think if people started to look at the Xbox One like it was Steam they would be a lot less pissed about it. Games on Steam are much cheaper, but like the OP maybe we see a reduction in prize as we closer to digital distribution. The internet is slow in most places right now to take that next step, but I can see it reaching that by the end of these consoles cycles for sure.

I can't wait to do my game shopping from my couch.

I either stream or download all of my music. I stream or download most of my movies and TV shows. I don't see what is so different about downloading my games.

I have bought the last 2 NBA 2k games on demand and I have played the shite out of them because they are just there when I want to play a random game.

This is what I was getting at, it is the way of the future and some just need to understand that.
