I was watching/listening to the Dodgers game with Vin Scully on the call and it was like music to my ears. I'm too young to remember him as the lead play-by-play man for NBC, but I know he definitely deserves the distinction as the voice of baseball. It got me thinking, who is "the voice" of each sport. Guys, past or present, who when you hear them speak, you think "that's the NFL, NBA, etc."

MLB: Vin Scully
NBA: Marv Albert
NFL: Pat Summerall (Dick Enberg is close)
CFB: Keith Jackson (Musburger deserves some recognition)
CBB: Jim Nantz (Musburger could go here too)

NFL: Dick Enberg and Merlin Olsen doing a 3:00 Sunday game out west somewhere, with Enberg letting out appropriately timed "oh MY"'s...

Summerall and Madden complemented each other perfectly

Al Michaels and whoever he was paired with...Michaels is the best

NBA: I actually am old enough to put Musberger here, along with Gary Bender and/or Dick Stockton when CBS did the games in the 80's.

College football: Keith Jackson/Frank Broyles used to be THE duo on television.

MLB: I spent many hours as a kid listening to Milo Hamilton, when he was in his prime. There were none better. He really got worse as the years went by...and he turned out to kinda be an arse as well.

No offense, but this guy sucks arse. I have heard him do football and baseball on satellite radio and God he his hard to listen to. And any announcer who uses the word "we" just sucks period.

"We couldn't turn the double play on that one"

"We are down to the 24 yard line"

thats the point. dave "he is a touchdown" south is so bad that he is actually good. after the 20th time in the game you hear "and he throws it to this guy...hes got a guy wide open there...he hands it off to this guy and he runs it there" you just start to realize you are listening to greatness

and anyway:
MLB: tGOAT vin
NBA: chick hearn
NFL: al michaels
NHL: bob miller

This. Plus, as long as he's been doing it, his voice is synonymous with aggie athletics. Can't help but crack a smile when I hear his drawling voice come on the radio
