I haven't seen a weather or fishing forecast in weeks. I'm back to working shift work now and we have a baby coming any day now (scheduled to be cut out on the 14th if he makes it that long) so fishing hasn't been on the top of my priority list.

Cd, how is your brother in law doing?

As far as kids, they definitely make getting to the outdoors a challenge. I have twin 14 month olds, but a great wife so I do make it our every now and then. I'm trying to get a fishing pole in their hands ASAP so I'll have the perfect excuse to get on the water.

MUCH better! Every day, getting better. Still very much doped up on pain meds so he's still in and out of it sometimes and some of what he says isn't very lucid all the time because of it. All surgeries have been done to repair the broken bones in both legs, ankles, arms, wrists and hands. Right now he's just recovering and healing. Last "obstacle" was an MRI on his neck to ensure they could remove the neck brace he's been wearing since the accident and it came off 2 days ago.

Dr's are talking about actually sending him home until he heals enough to start rehab. Family is a little worried about this, needless to say, but we're confidant that he will be ok with home nursing if they send him home.

He's going to have MONTHS of rehab ahead of him. He's an athletic and healthy man and for him to go through what he will be going through is going to be more of an issue to his pride and ego that it will to his physical nature. He'll basically be learning how to walk again after breaking his femur in one leg and both lower bones in the other.

My wife saved the texts I was sending her after my tongue surgery. They were pretty funny. I was getting aggravated because they wouldn't answer me back but they didn't know what the hell I was talking about. I had to text whoever was in the room because I had a breathing tube in and after that I was under doctor's orders not to talk.

As far as the rehab goes, it is amazing how much strength a person loses by being laid up in a hospital bed. I had back surgery in 2010 and was in the hospital for about 6 weeks due to complications. I actually had 3. I was amazed how much I had lost by just being in the hospital. I could barely walk to the bathroom with a walker. It took months of rehab to get me back walking again.

I'm glad he's doing better and on the road to recovery.

Glad to hear that....it may be difficult getting back to where he was, but the most important this is that he is alive and improving.
