Richard Pryor.....was supposed to be in Purple Rain??

I'm watching this Richard Pryor documentary on showtime. Turns out he was ready to sign up for Purple Rain, but Jim Brown (former football great) turned down the script. Richard hired him to basically be his movie manager.

Up until I recently saw Brewster's Millions, I only knew him from The Muppet Movie. I really dislike him after watching his documentary. Angry, racist, junkie who used curse words as a crutch to get a laugh. I don't mind cursing in acts but he did it for shock value instead of strategically peppering them throughout.
