Some of the shite these guys sit around and come up with blows my mind. From the article it looks like someone dropped the ball in regards to getting approval. I'm sure more will come out in the next few days.

quote:

The "Bayou Jamb" which has been held out at Malone Stadium for the last seven years.... and the "Jam at the Joe" in Ruston, each failed to get approval from the NCAA to host such an event.

It has something to do with a new bylaw 13.11.1.10, adopted 16 months ago.

HS Jamboree

New link from News Star

quote:

Other college venues are currently still on go for the jamboree events held at their stadiums, including the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

quote:

"What's baffling me is Lafayette is still having theirs," West Ouachita coach Joey Pender said. "Mississippi State is still having one. What's baffling is they can have one and we can't.

From the Facebook comments I read they are saying the ULL stadium is owned by the city and not the school which allows them to hold the jamb without needing approval. Just a comment so I don't know if that is the case.

Th article on the News-Star says Miss St. Jamboree is on as well. Does anyone have info that isn't being reported?

That's bullshite! I heard it was because ULM would have a jump on recruiting these local players but they never sign local guys anyway. Shouldn't be a big deal IMO.

That News Star link isn't working for me for some reason.

What is the rule that changed that is preventing the Jamborees from happening?

I've changed the link. The original link was from the small article they wrote last night. The new link has a little more info. I'll look up the rule as well.

Bylaw leading to cancelation of some of the HS jamborees.

quote:

13.11.1.10 Nonscholastic Practice or Competition -- Football. An institution [including any institutional department (e.g., athletics, recreational/intramural)] shall not host, sponsor or conduct a nonscholastic football practice or competition (e.g., seven-on-seven events) in which football prospective student-athletes participate on its campus or at an off-campus facility regularly used by the institution for practice and/or competition by any of the institution's sport programs.
