I am considering buying a center console bay boat (17-20') but I am really struggling with the make/model I should consider. There are so many different brands that I don't have a clue about which ones are "better" than others and how they rank on the pecking order.

If you had to rank the various brands by quality/useful options/etc , how would you rank 'em and why?

Help OB. Thanks.

Pathfinder is my personal favorite but they're all good these days.

Saw a brand new Blazer Bay 2200 in the Houma Academy parking lot the other day...had to pick my jaw up off the ground. That gets my vote.

What do you like about the Pathfinder over other bay boats? Very curious to understand.

Thank you.

Well, I have one.

It's dry
It's fast
It's easy on fuel
It rides well
It fishes well
Can sac au lait fish 6 men comfortably
Simply put its built for fishing.

But, I am obviously biased.

They ride very dry and handle like bass boats.

Along with lots of other things. Those are the main two though. They draft very shallow, are well laid out, etc.

They're just extremely nice to fish out of.

I can tell you Pathfinder or GTFO guys have never ridden in more than a couple different bay boats.

I'm by no means a pf or gtfo, I actually love the nautic stars and have been in a bunch. Like I said earlier, I'm biased. How can you tell if I have or haven't been in a bunch of boats?

I'd say:

Yellowfin
Ranger
Young
Shearwater
Triton
Pathfinder
Skeeter
Canyon Bay
Champion
Blackjack

I've ridden in all but the yellowfin and Canyon Bay, but I hear enough about them to put them where they are.
