Flacco signed a six-year, $120.6 million extension this offseason after helping the Ravens win the Super Bowl. He has been criticized by some Ravens fans for the contract after Baltimore purged its roster of several high-priced veterans after re-signing its franchise quarterback.

Agent Joe Linta, however, told USA Today he has "no sympathy" for the Ravens, who could have signed his client to a much-more cap-friendly contract last year.

quote:

He told the newspaper that the hangup in the talks was over "$1 million six years from now." Flacco ended up walking away from a reported five-year extension that would have averaged $16 million per season after the Ravens wouldn't budge.

"I've never in my life seen a dumber move. I guess people can say, 'Well, Joe was dumb, too.' It could have been [dumb], God forbid, if he got hurt. But $1 million to [Ravens owner] Steve Bisciotti six years from now? That's like 100 bucks for you or me today," he told USA Today.

quote:

The Ravens likely will be forced to try to restructure Flacco's contract before the 2016 season as his deal is scheduled to carry a $28.55 million cap figure that season. "I'm not apologetic for the fact this is really a three-year deal, there's no way they can afford $29 million a couple of years from now,'' Linta told USA Today. "I'm not apologetic. They chose to walk away.''

This isnt that big a deal but i thought it was an interesting look at how these things look from an agents POV. Kind of weird he went off about it though, Joe might not like that

Gotta love the last little bit about the insane 28 mil that was put in there to beef up the Contract even though thatll never happen

Flacco said in mid December that the longer the Ravens hold out, the more expensive he's going to be. Then he walked the walk.

But Flacco isn't good! If he doesn't throw that miracle hail mary at denver we're sitting here today talking about how overpaid flacco is at $80M deal, the fact that hail mary went down is incredible and his deal is insane bc it will cripple that franchise

If lee Evans doesn't drop a ball right in his chest flacon is in the Super Bowl before last year.

yea and if Sterling Moore doesn't make a terrible play on the ball, they would have been in the super bowl.

$120M Quarterbacks don't go in to face the hot houston texans and get their arse handed to them

43-13 was the raping the texans put on the ravens at reliant this past season.

You know what $120M quarterbacks do? Aaron rodgers walked into the undefeated texans house infront of a sunday night sellout and threw 6 TD on the texans defense that was the best in the league at the time and

42-24 was the arse whipping the packers put on the texans at the texans stadium

exactly look what tom brady did to help the pats WIN, flacco is all about himself, what a great leader hope they end up with 5-6 wins this year which is possible looking at their schedule and considering Ray lewis and ed reed are gone and haloti ngata is another year older

I know

Just crazy that a ton of the Pats best/more well rounded teams got ousted due to injuries (from Mr Pollard) but that 2012 team ,which really had no right going to the SB with that defense, got the breaks and made it (and again prossibly could have won the SB if Pollard didnt take out Gronks Ankle)

He was absolute money in the playoffs though. He may not be the best qb in the NFL but you cannot question his production and ability to get that team wins.

So you're basing his pay off one game? he just won a fricking Superbowl and threw 11 tds and 0 ints in the playoffs

not basing it off 1 game, just saying big time quarterbacks show up when they play the best team in the league at the time.

Aaron rodgers knew green bay was facing a test in houston and threw 6 damn touchdowns to show the world he was the best QB in the game and worth his contract

Flacco brought the ravens into houston and got his arse handed to him and couldn't do a damn thing about it.

Houston had arguably the best D in the league but Great QB show up vs any D, what did Tom Brady do to houston both times he faced them this year? What did Rodgers do? What did Flacco do?

Flacco is worth whatever Matt Ryan is worth, they're both a notch above tony romo but nowhere near the group thats worth $120M which is

Brady
Brees
Manning
Rodgers

Flacco is good but he doesn't singlehandedly overwhelm teams, baltimore has a great run game and great defense. Flacco isn't even a top 10 fantasy quarterback my god he defines mediocre. Aaron Rodgers,Brady and Brees won titles without a superstar running back. Those guys you can plug anyone in around them and they succeed, I really can't see baltimore finishing 8-8 this year with flacco at the helm, look at their schedule.

Like the 49ers in the superbowl? That game was way more important than a random regular season game. And like you said Houston was a hot team and the ravens may have just had an off day
