The SEC tournament matters. It's important LSU is winning some games.

Yes.. The tournament doesn't matter in regards to getting a national seed. But it matters in building momentum for the postseason. It seems people forget that and lump everything in "let's go 0-2 and get home quickly."

The bats haven't been there, but they're finding ways to win games.. and they're winning some tough extra games. That'll benefit them in the postseason.

LSU tends to play well in the postseason when they go far in the SEC tournament. Since 2000

2000 LSU wins SEC tournament, LSU wins CWS.
2003 LSU makes SEC tournament championship game, LSU makes CWS.
2008 LSU wins SEC tournament, LSU makes CWS.
2009 LSU wins SEC tournament, LSU wins CWS.

2002 LSU goes 2-2, LSU loses in Super Regional.
2005 LSU goes 0-2, LSU loses in Regional.
2012 LSU goes 1-2, LSU loses in Super Regional at home.

Of course there have been a couple of exceptions.. just like in anything.

That 2010 team wasn't very good and they got hot for one week. Then UCLA was really fricking good.. That's not the best example to use to try to poke holes in my theory.

2004: 2 and Q in SECT, made it to Omaha.
1998: 1-2 in SECT, made it to Omaha

Basically, when we have good teams, we make it to Omaha. When we don't, we don't

When LSU has good teams LSU plays well in the SEC tournament. The SEC tournament is a good measuring stick.

I have 7 examples since 2000. You have 2.

Getting sent to LA was a fricking death sentence that year.

It builds momentum. LSU goes farther when they go farther in Hoover.

go look and tell me how well South Carolina has done in the SECT the past few years and get back to me (I'll save you the time, they've won 2 games total). The SECT is not very important for teams in our position, sorry

Yeah I view it as extra games to toy with pitching when we're in the position with a national seed locked up. Extra games are just lagniappe... that said the bats and lack of timely hits have been frustrating.

lol, what does the team have to do with the importance of the tournament as a whole. with that logic, comparing this team to teams of previous years is just as worthless. so i guess i'd respond with "I forgot 2013 was 2009"
