Do you think it will be confusing hearing the name "Hornets" floated around in reference to another team? Or will a full year of "pelicans" talk be enough, in the eyes of the fans, to re-associate the new name with the franchise?

It will take awhile for people to stop referring to the Hornets. A full season will probably do it.

Then again, we were called the Charlotte Hornets for about 11 years.

Bobby Hebert called the Pelicans the "Hornets" 3 or 4 times on Tuesday's broadcast

It actually might help our transition to Pelicans now that Charlotte is taking the Hornets back. It will be harder to call us the Hornets by mistake when there is another team called Hornets.

no its not, it keeps the term hornets relevant in people's heads but it's still a cluster frick as to whos them hornets and whos not and who's still called them and all that. Maintaining nba relevance is a disaster.

Pretty much perfect, but needs more bobby-isms:

Deke: TooDAY on Spahts Talk, we got Saints footbahl for 2 hours n Fitty five minutes. We also got the ghost of Bert Sugah to talk about the big fight dis weekend between Carlos Mendez and Ivan Mxlptlk. But first Bobby, let's talk Pelicans for 30 seconds.

Bobby: No yes no. Yes no yes no. A pelican? A pelican cayn't knock a snot bubble in ya, cain it? No. We wuz down in Bayou Lafource eatin some of dat Domino's Pizzer, and dis pelican cum and eat my pizzer. I was so mad, but it ain't ya know a fearsome thing ya know?

Deke: Okkk Bobby, well we have a VERY special guest with us today, the backup long snapper for the New Orleans Saints...but first 30 minutes of commercials.

You're kinda making my point. We were called that pretty much until there was another Charlotte team.

We would still get called Hornets, but less so if there's another Hornets team.

When people think Hornets in 5 years, it will be of Charlotte, not Nola.

But a lot less than before. Im not saying the mistake wont still happen, but it will help if there is another Charlotte Hornets out there compared to a New Orleans Pelicans.

People will go back to what they originally wanted to say to begin with ("Charlotte Hornets") and it will be like we are an expansion team as "New Orleans Pelicans".
