Is Trey Burke = Jarvis Jones?

Saints fans were sure that the Saints would pick Jarvis Jones because he fit what most fans saw as a big hole on the roster. After the fact we discover that he wasn't even under consideration by the Saints with their 1st pick.
Similarly I think Demps/Monty may value current pieces on the roster like Austin Rivers more than most fans do. I also think that if Burke falls to us it will be because the Magic, a team with a similar Spurs Tree money ball GM that was willing to draft another PG #1, passed on Burke. Many here think Burke is the next CP3, but if the Magic pass on him, maybe he's not, meaning Demps might see the same thing and pass.

I actually kind of agree with this. We just don't know what the front office thinks of Austin Rivers going going forward. If they feel good with him, Burke cannot be the pick. Hell, maybe they don't think that highly of Burke. It's going to be fun speculating for the next few weeks though.

See, this is the kind of BS post that makes me hate coming to Pelicans talk. Its pretty crappy that you would even think to question the quality GM's that we have here. 95% of posters are not only expert scouts but also qualified to go launch the 3's as well.... shame on you for calling them out.

I think it's hyperbolic sarcasm and he actually quite liked my post and hates everyone else here.

This is why I think Len or Saric could be the pick.
Rivers can play the 2 as well though. If they think Burke is the BPA, I say grab him and have your future be AD @ 4, Burke @ PG and Rivers @ 2.
Lets not forget that we still have FA though. If we can somehow get Pektrovic and Webster then we don't really need to draft Len or Saric and Burke might be the best we can get to upgrade the PG position.
Lot of time between now and the draft.

If the front office is happy with where Rivers is, I could see this I guess. I just think we should target BPA at any position other than PF. And at 6, the only SF I would like there is Porter if he falls. So that leaves C, PG, or SG. Even if they are happy with Rivers, if they really like Burke, they should take him. Ryno needs some guard help with that 2nd unit.

Trey Burke is short Greivis Vasquez. Great leader, can rack up the assists, and he can shoot pretty well. But he is unathletic, unlike CP3, and he is a very poor defender as a result. Like Vasquez, he is a great guy, but he won't be drafted by us.

Lol, good catch. Yes, he will be drafted in the top five and if not, hell be taken in the top ten. He just doesn't fit what this team needs, or the direction it is going in.
