I'd like to think the former, but probably the latter.

Probably both. He'd be in Grown Ups 2 with his friends no matter how successful he was.

Yeah his brand of physical comedy would've run it's course and he'd be doing stuff like that.

Either on one of those celebrity weight loss shows or being one of the commentators on those VH1 shows "the best of....", "top 10 .....", etc..

I think his act would have gotten terribly old.

I disagree, I think he would have made a few more golden comedies, lost weight, and done a couple serious roles like Jim Carey. Then sit back and be a tv show host.

It's better to burn out than fade away.

None of his movies were very good. He would have been successful with Shrek but otherwise riding Adam Sandler's coattails with the rest of his buddies.

Clearly you haven't watched Tommy Boy lately. And Black Sheep was pretty damn funny too.

Pretty much have Kevin James career. The only reason Kevin James has one is that Chris Farley died and Sandler needed a fat guy to put back on his roster. The man is incredibly lucky that Farley died and that he died at the exact time he was trying to make a career.

Nah man. Chris Farley made some classic comedies. Notable favorites being Black Sheep, Tommy Boy, and Beverly Hills Ninja. Kinda strange this is even a topic, being I was having this discussion with a friend yesterday.
