Aquatic Plant to Introduce

Need a little help here from my OB scholars, im looking to introduce an aquatic plant to an 11 acre pond i manage.
The pond is around 6-7 feet deep and i want to introduce an aquatic plant that wont take over or damage the lake, just add some shelter and new life to the water
any suggestions, should i not do it?
