It means that as of now you can't use Dwolla to send US dollars to or receive US dollars from MtGox.
Why? The public has not been informed yet.
What effect will this have on bitcoin as a whole? Who knows? What do you think?

I think it's mighty odd that the Department of Homeland Security is involved. That's not someone I ever saw being involved in this process. At least not first.

Well until we really know what the hell the DHS is doing we know that one of the more convenient (only in relation to the other methods) of getting money into and out of Mt. Gox is no longer possible.

Well we know what they are doing. Just don't know why. I'm highly interested to see what's happening here.

The weird thing is that other methods of sending money to MtGox from the USA, like wire transfers, are still working.
So is the DHS issue with Dwolla or MtGox?

Wonder if this has something to do with the patriot act.

Could have something to do with the coinlabs lawsuit
Posted on 5/14/13 at 4:59 pm to joshnorris14
At a wild guess, somebody thinks that this service is actively facilitating money laundering.

Good question.
Another question, who is this Mutum Sigillum entity mentioned in the email?

What would the DHS have to do with that?

Mt.Gox

Again, what does that have to do with the DHS

That's where I was going with my earlier patriot act comment.

I'll take "Types of people likely to engage in money laundering" for one thousand dollars, Alex.
Spoiler: The question is "What are terrorists?"
