I am intrigued about the new Z10, but not sure if I am intrigued enough to get one.

This should have happened years ago. Now the App stores are flooded with apps that do the same crap so good luck to them but sounds like a fail venture to me

Too late, imessage and the 100s of other messaging apps filled the void

re: Blackberry opening up BBM to other platforms.

Chicken, I've got the Z. Very good phone. needs more apps but I'm fine with the apps I have:

WSJ, FB, Twitter (Blaq), Apollo (Pandora), Slacker, skyscanner (really good airline app), kindle, police scanner app, whatsapp, docstogo, dropbox, accuweather, and tunein radio. I only need Iheartradio, skype or viber (both are coming), and a couple of other apps and I'm fine. I don't need netflix as I don't like to watch tv on small screens. If you have to have a bunch of apps, might want to wait a few months.

The camera is pretty good. has a nice edit feature that allows you to change photo as you can in Instagram. Can give it a vintage look, charcoal sketch, watercolor, sixties, negative, B&W, and other styles. Has an hdmi jack that will come in handy one day. The browser is really good and I think you will like the screen size.

The BBM has video chat and other features whatsapp doesn't have. BBM is like the ipod. was a nice tool for BB when it was hot, now technology has caught up and cross platform IM's are here. They can either change or die.

One nice feature is you can sync it with your pc through wi-fi, no cable needed. The swipes are pretty cool once you get used to them and you can keep several apps open at one time.

Its a very good phone that will get better with more updates and apps.

didn't say it didn't work. You have to sideload it. I just don't like to watch video on cellphones.

I just learned last night that you can upload all the digital pictures that you ever took in your life for free to your Google+/Google Drive. There is no space limit as long as you upload at a max resolution of 2048pi. This is an example of just another amazing Google service that is free.

Apple has the cool Photo stream, iCloud, Airplay thing going for it.

At this point in time, nobody can touch these two companies when it comes to an all round smartphone ecosystem. There is very little incentive to go to the BlackBerry or the Windows Phone platform. Once the newness wears off of a new platform, the lack of features/services will start bugging you.

android has major security issues and some of us don't like google having access to everything in our lives and allowing them to exploit them.

i made up my mind a long time ago that i'm not giving up my QWERTY or the security of the Blackberry, but saw the writing on the wall for RIM and i had pretty much abandoned my commitment but was going to ride my Bold out to the bitter end.

Then the Q10 came out...and i got a test run on it.

frikkin' love it. LOVE IT.

glad to see Blackberry do this. anything that has the chance to increase their market presence is good...it means i can QWERTY on.

Exactly. I've been using Google Maps/Latitude on my BB when fishing/hunting for years now. All the other apps are open to BB platform as well...just don't need or want them.

I had one for work. Hated it. But it was a traditional Blackberry while I had an iPhone as a personal phone. I think there's space in the market for a Blackberry smartphone...they just need to make a good one. I think the new model is a step in that direction.

I actually had to go to Natchez for a conference. I printed out the Google map directions from my laptop. It took me to the banks of the MS River next to a shipping platform. I tried BlackBerry Maps and it took me to my destination. I was impressed.

BBM also has video chat on the new phones. I don't think whatsapp or the others offer that.
