I think it's safe to now say that coach Raymond is head and shoulders better at recruiting than Cooper was. Don't get me wrong Cooper was great at evaluating talent and getting his players ready, but he was also kind of lazy when it came to all that recruiting entails.

In one year Raymond has established great relationship with coaches and players from all over the country, at multiple positions. He's even done a better job at recruiting Florida than Billy Gonzales did.

Cooper didnt need to be a great recruiter. He was that good of a coach.

is he really?

Going after big time guys is one thing but being able to identify talents such as mo, tm7 and mills might make you reconsider

It's a trade-off. Cooper was much better as a coach, Raymond is a better recruiter.

Being a better recruiter is about finding productive players not rankings which cooper was awesome at see tyrann jalen etc. we have yet to see a db class full of Raymond's guys take the field

Cooper turned players in stars...the jury is still out on Raymond. You cannot judge what Coach Raymond had done at LSU in one year, compared to Coach Cooper. Cooper is by the far the better coach. Let's see what Raymond can do with his own players as in the ones he recruited. Let's not forget the Jalen Mills is a Coach Cooper recruit.

You mean Peterson, Claiborne, Mathieu, etc...

Those guys would have been stars regardless. Mathieu was a beast from the very beginning and with minimal coaching.

Cooper was actually bad at teaching technique. Big reason why he got fired from Tampa Bay and ended up at USF. Raymond is more about technique and he did a pretty good job last year with 3 new starters

The easy way to have the best of both worlds would have been hiring Ron Zook as the db coach. Youd have one hell of a db coach and imo one of the best recruiters in college football.

In college football, Coach Cooper was the best DB coach if not one of the nation's best. What he did in the pros cannot be compared to college football. You used a bad analogy there son. The best one would be what one guy said is about his work at South Carolina. He developed more players than Coach Raymond, thus far. Raymond still has ways to go, but he has potential. You cannot discount what Coach Cooper had done in college football and voted the best DB coach in the nation a few years ago during LSU SEC Championship year.
