Completely lost you right there buddy.

Understandable...nobody wants to envision that for their club. But if it happened at Liverpool, it can happen at UTD.

well our board is not like others that will pull the trigger fast unless we see some 5th and below finishes

Your board has never had to deal with this situation. They are unbelievably fortunate to have had the longest tenured manager in England for the last couple decades. Your board also likes money and if they aren't seeing the results they expect, SAF will be back on the sidelines and Moyes will be out.

this hire proves they want stability, the money will flow no matter what when you have a global brand. Just like Liverpool and Chelsea have as well.

Probably at some point. But my point is that several years ago we were playing in European Cup finals and competing for the league title and at one point last year, those three teams I listed where above us. Granted, the circumstances were somewhat different, but if you think money solves all problems then you are supporting the wrong Manchester club.

Agreed, but sticking with this decision will become more difficult the longer UTD go without winning anything.

Judging by the managerial landscape in professional soccer, the likelihood is that he won't be successful and if Moyes is still there in 5 years it will be against all odds.

Wow.

And you have nothing to base that off of than the managerial change. That's it. Never mind the squad we currently have just won the league or the setup is in place for success over the long term...SAF was a deity with enormous power at Man United, but he was one man at a club with dozens of key figures.

I don't know what United will do in the coming years, but you're saying that they WILL become Liverpool just because Sir Alex retired.

Right, I'm the delusional one for thinking Moyes won't reproduce Fergie's success. Congratulations on the hire boys, in all seriousness. I will be watching as intently as you.

There's a difference in saying he won't have the same amount of success as SAF and saying United will be looking up at Everton and freaking Newcastle in the near future.

To be fair I don't think it will happen but y'all finishing 4-6 in the near future isn't that far fetched either ...

It is not stupid to say that it's conceivable for UTD to have a drop off with this change in manager. There is a decent possibility that UTD don't win any silverware next year (with SAF they only won the league once and no cups in the last two years). If that streak extends to two years and United join the battle for top 4 instead of being firmly entrenched at the top, that's a totally different reality than what most UTD fans are accustomed to. It's completely ignorant to just assume that things will continue the way they have just because the club is called Manchester United.

So you think we (Utd.) will be in a battle for top 4 or in the race for the prem? Assuming they are not one in the same.

Times like these make me remember all of those who said Rooney and RvP wouldn't play well together.

Personally, I see this bringing UTD back to the top 5 pack. I have had them as the top team in England and it wasn't that close the last 2-3 years (imo, UTD should've won the league last year and it took that crazy QPR game to ruin that). But, I don't see that separation anymore. I think they are even with City, Chelsea, Tottenham, and Arsenal (and Liverpool possibly next year though they might not be as close as it appears). That puts MUFC in a potential battle for top 4 sometimes, in my eyes.

Ok, fair enough. I will agree with the city and Chelsea, disagree with Tottenham and arsenal. To each his own though.
